F.Paul Rogers was my best friend. He was
an intelligence operative in Pacific
during WWII. His knowledge of
communications and electronics was
immesurable. Paul was very proficient in
morse code from his military days. I got
him interested in the hobby around 1979
and then he tested out and got his Extra
callsign and spent many many Saturdays
meeting friends online via a net that he
and a couple of my other friends started
called the Bellringers. The net
consisted mostly hams who worked for or
were associated with AT&T and South
Central Bell in and around the
Birmingham Alabama area. It has not
spread all over the US and is still
active each Saturday at 9AM on 7233.
Pauls son Richard has picked up the call
from his dad and is still carrying on
our tradition of sharing our world with
our friends and families from the ham
radio ranks.
