Friend : Margaret Signorelli (WA6PZO)

She was a good friend to me and many others that knew her. She was a Radio Officer for Arco on oil tankers, then worked at Home Depot in the Electrical Department in East Anaheim Calif. for years. Mag's was a CW nut, could straight key T/R at over 45, and she could hear code in the falling rain. Many customers and co-workers miss her as much as i do. A multi decade member of AARA. She has a Twin sister, Patti, Kids, and grandchildren.
Her request: Don't Smoke, if you do, quit NOW. (Cancer claimed her).
Godspeed my Dear Friend, Keep the Henry HOT, QSY to heaven.

Copying code in the falling rain brings to mind a woman, ever so slightly my senior, operating a 20 meter CW position at WA6FV Field Day a few years ago, to whom I was not introduced since she was all into it, trying to copy weak sigs off a low, low Yagi. Was she Margaret?

Margaret was 79 when she passed. She was about 5', an Italian fire plug of a gal. She had a dynamic personality (no time for negative people!), had shorter curly grey hair. She lived in Irvine Cal. in the 70's till mid 2000's's, they City of Orange since. Her ham radio "carreer" with Arco was on several ships, the Sag River was a primary. She was also AFA6VP with Air Force MARS. She was CW fast, even with bad hearing, put a set of cans on her, and she could copy clean computer generated morse at speeds that I only could hear as a buzz. On the send side, she always used a straight key, a beater of a grey cast iron base generic thing that she used on the Arco ships. In the last 3 years she liked to use a code reader ("Getting Lazy!" she explained..). I set up the key with an RCA connector and adaptor cables so she could adapt it to other's rigs. Her voice on SSB with a heil mic was high pitched, and got attention by confounding guys used to tuning guys voices. Her personal HF rig was a TS-830 and a Henry 2KD burning 3-500Z's. Over the years she met many hundreds of Hams, always a smile, usually followed by a hug. I don't know if she visited Fountain Valley's feild day, it's possible as she was in OCARA for a while, she even knew Gordon West. Thank you for the thoughts and input.
