I had the pleasure of getting to know Rick when we both lived in the Roanoke VA area in the early 80's. Rick was a true gentleman of great accomplishment as a family man, professional, and licensed radio amateur. He will be missed. 73 OM! de John NU4X
Rick was probably the most instrumental figure in my entry to amateur radio. Back in 1980 when I was 15 and too young to drive, he picked me up every Saturday with another teenage ham friend of mine and drove us across town to a local Technician/General class. I got to know Rick well in the early 1980s and kept in touch with him during his years in Roanoke, and upon his return to the Richmond area we ran into each other at each year's Frostfest where we always enjoyed catching up on the news of our lives. I was shocked to hear of his passing at so young an age. 73 and SK Rick ... I'll miss you.
