Back when I lived in Fitchburg, Mass. there was a local who made some simple, sturdy antennas. Henry was one of those jovial, older gents that was just FUN to vist/purchase antennas and parts from.
He had a workshop with specialized tooling to swedge aluminum elements. Even back then (1970s) he used SS hardware. I have 2 of his 3 el 6 Meter 'hill-topper' antennas. These use telescoping elements which fold up and the boom is in 2 pieces. All wingnuts and no tools needed. I had MANY fun days on top of the mountains in that area.
I used a Lafayette HA-460 which put out about 10 W on AM. Always worked down to NJ and PA.
He was a character and I miss him!
