While I didn't know Andy very well, he was inspiring to me. We met at Field Day 2001, right after I passed my General Class Exam. I was "trying" to work the 20m CW tent and was having a real problem keeping up. Just passing the code exam, I wasn't as proficient as I thought I was. Andy stepped right in and bailed me out. He inspired me to really "learn" CW. I say "learn" because you don't really know CW at 5WPM. I've since made CW my exclusive mode and operate 100% of the time. In fact, I don't even have the mic hooked up. Thanks Andy for inspiring me to get off my butt and work for something. It's just too bad you won't be there next year to see how much I've learned. We'll all miss you.
