Seymour will be missed
WA6AM Vito said it Best on his QRZ
silent key message "Very sad news. I
learned a lot from him just by
listening. RIP OM." Seymour was my
wife's 1st radio contact as an
amateur..We will Miss You So Much
Seymour..Lawrence and Jeanette (VA7LTX
& VA7JTX)
W6CCP was the bellweather signal on 20m for the longpath opening between South
Africa and the West Coast. The band opening was marked by his wonderfully rich
voice piercing the ether. Whatever the band conditions, if anyone was going to
be there, it was going to be Seymour, like a lighthouse on the radio dial.
Despite having him in the log before, his friendly manner and welcoming CQ call
invariably made me want to reply in greeting when I heard him. Listening to his
QSO's while working in the shack was always a pleasure. He really made his place
as an ever-present link between continents. Always a gentleman, Seymour and his
worldwide activity were impressive. His positive and kindly ways extended far
further into the world than he may have realized.
RIP, OM.
All the greats are going this year. What a
great ham radio op and person Seymour was.
will miss that voice on radio.
Seymour was a legend on 20 meters. I must have listened to
him (when I couldn't hear who we was talking to) and talked to
him (when I could) for over 40 years. He knew so many hams
and so many knew him by virtue of his huge 20 meter signal.
A giant has fallen. Very sad to hear of his passing.
RIP Seymour -- you affected more on the air
than you ever knew and left a GREAT family
behind -- it was wonderful to help them
celebrate your life at your service.
Seymour was a fixture on 20 meter SSB for at
least 50 years. His outstanding antennas would
always show the band was open when those with
lesser antennas heard only noise. I will miss
hearing him creating a pile up on 20. RIP OM.
Besides missing his stories about onion and mushroom growing I will miss his voice...Whiskey 6 Charlie Charlie Pacific. RIP Seymour.
I didn't know Seymour and only had a few QSO's
Seymour, your booming 20 meter signal may be
silenced but your memory will be with DXers
forever. While we only had a few contacts over
the years.I felt I knew you- your distinctive
voice. 73 OM from Don W8WOJ
