Friend : Ralph Edwards (W6TYW)

Ralph never got a silent key posting because his license expired before his death. Ralph received his ticket in 1939 and ran an electronics sales and repair shop in Sabastopol CA. until the war broke out. He was actually one of the first stateside to hear the attack on a Pearl Hardor, as he was in qso with a ham there when the attack started, the op locked the key and the radio went till it quit, bombs blasting and all. From that point on he was Signal Corp until he retired and after the war trained disabled vets in cw and radio op skills as part of rehab job training. During the war he came up with the transmitter activated airplane hanger door opener, the forrunner to the garage door opener, later patented by a co- worker. I still have many of his pre-WW2 qsl cards and display them proudly. I have to thank Ralph for getting me started in a life long hobby that has led to many friends and wonderful memories. I would like to hear from anyone that remembers Ralph Edwards W6TYW. TNX, David NO6M (Ralphs' Grandson)
