Friend : J. Dunn (W1ELX)

J Stewart Dunn, 79, of Windham, NH, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 29, 1941 in York, Pennsylvania to Mildred Mae (Stewart) from Franklin, PA and Arthur Raymond Dunn, a civil engineer from North Anson, Maine.  Throughout his childhood, J and his family lived in various places in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Connecticut.  Following his graduation from Franklin High School in Pennsylvania, J studied at Pennsylvania State University as a Physics major, then later at Northeastern University in Boston.  He enlisted and served in the US Navy during the Vietnam era, studied to be an electronics technician, followed by radar school, then was assigned to the USS Wilkinson DL5.  At that time, he had his only daughter, Yvonne, from his first wife, Wanda Kvashay.  He later remarried Verna Stevens who helped raise his daughter.  
J spent his career as an Electrical Engineer and, in January 1975, proudly founded his own company, Datacube, Inc. with Stanley Karandanis in Danvers, MA. The company developed imaging processing products for industrial, medical, military, and scientific markets, and had 160 employees.  J continued his work as a part-time consultant for Jet-Protect Corp. in Santa Clara, CA.
He also enjoyed hobbies such as assembling radios, building model trains and ships, connecting on ham radio (W1ELX), and reading science fiction and comic books. He enjoyed folk and classic rock music, and loved animals, especially cats.
He is survived by his loving wife, Verna Beatrice Stevens of Windham, NH; his daughter Yvonne Pamela Dunn and her husband Richard Lawrence Oehler of Tampa FL; and his grandchildren, Richard Jay Oehler and Stephanie Marie Oehler; nephews, Arthur “Chip” Raymond Dunn III, Matthew Stewart
