Infected from the radio bacillus in young years, military service in the British Royal Airforce as a radio man and later as electronics and ship radar installation technician, he was never released from the influence of the higher radio waves.
It has brought him from London in the mid 1960s to the east Friesian town Aurich to marry his girlfriend Luise and from there he was now with his German callsign DC0HW very active, mostly on the UHF and SHF bands. Many own creations of transverters, linear amplifiers, low noise preamps, beam antennas and high standard equipment modifications of all kinds he made. He was a regular contributor to the DUBUS magazine. John was, in all personal and technological aspects, an outstanding radio amateur and for me as a young HAM a source of endless inspiration.
Unfortunately he died in Aurich at August 2nd, 1991 at the age of 51 years from a serious illness much too young. However, he will not be forgotten.
