Friend : Peter A Kleyn (K6OPY)

Several years ago, My Brother Peter A Kleyn, of La Jolla, San Diego, CA ,became a silent key. Peter is buried in the Rosecrans Military Cemetery in San Diego.
In my 77 years I only met my brother Peter twice for a few hours, as my Dad was shifted all over the globe and our paths never crossed.
When I was born, Peter, who was then 18 Years old, Left for the USA to study from the small Caribbean Island where my father was stationed at the time.
Peter ,upon arrival in 1944, joined the Army and studied in New York under the GI Bill of Rights at what we believe was the NY RCA college.
With fantastic help from "Pete the Greek)... better known as "Pete Varounis ,NL7XM," we were able to piece the following info together: ( We have a QSL card from him as W2BWH, while he lived at the YMCA.)

"Peter Kleyn appearing as W2BYH was recorded in the Winter 1949/1950 Callbook at the Y.M.C.A., 215 West 23rd St., New York, NY. <27/4/47 >
By that summer, still as W2BYH, he relocated to Barnard Hall, North Brothers Island, Bronx, NY until the fall of 1955. <33/4/35>
As K6OPY, Peter was licensed about December 1955, and found residing now at 3710 Homeland Drive, Los Angeles, California. <34/1/225>
Almost six years later in the fall of 1961, Peter moved to 13129 S. Springford Drive in La Mirada, CA. <39/4/303>

The Summer 1967 Callbook shows his License Class as Advanced. <45/3/353>
Peter moves one last time in late 1968 or very early 1969 to 5746 Soledad Rd. in La Jolla, CA. 92037. <47/1/351>
Peter upgraded to Extra Class on April 25, 2000. "

Peter must have installed the love of Amateur Radio in me.... I have a fond memory of finding strange" Glass bottles" in boxes Labelled Sylvania and RCA in what has his room when i was a few years old. Yes, they turned out to be radio valves, he must have been building/experimenting long before I was even born.
I myself currently hold the Callsign EI7II, and can be contacted via QRZ. It has been a long held wish to pay tribute to Peter (K6OPY) and express the hope that folks reading this might remember K6OPY, while he was active. If so… pls drop me a note via QRZ? It would mean a lot to me.
Albert, EI7II.
