RSGB: The Coronation of The King and the Queen Consort:

To celebrate the Coronation, your Society has planned some events and also created activity suggestions for how radio amateurs can mark the Coronation in their own way. Some of these activities are just for radio amateurs, but in keeping with the Coronation theme of community we have included several outreach ideas where radio amateurs can involve their local communities.

Propagation Forecast Bulletin #13 de K7RA:

Solar activity increased this week. Average daily sunspot number rose from 68 to 112.6, and average daily solar flux changed from 145.6 to 156.1. A new sunspot group emerged on March 24, two more on March 26 and 27, and three on March 29. Due to solar wind and a geomagnetic disturbance at the beginning of the reporting week, average daily planetary A index increased from 10.6 to 23.3, while average middle latitude A index went from 8.4 to 13.7. Many reports of aurora came in this week, some down to lower latitudes in North America.

ARDC Grant Supports University Ham Radio Station:

A new amateur ham radio station in planned for The University of Scranton's Amateur Radio Club through support from a nearly 200,000 dollar Amateur Radio Digital Communications (ARDC) grant awarded to Nathaniel Frissell, Ph.D., assistant professor physics and engineering at The University of Scranton. The grant will support antenna systems and state-of-the-art equipment to allow HF, VHF, UHF and microwave operations including amateur satellite operations. The new station will be located in the glass-walled study room 596 on the fifth floor of the Loyola Science Center, with additional lab space on the same floor. The station will give students the chance to learn about amateur radio, radio engineering and radio science, in addition to allowing them to participate in Ham Radio Science Citizen Investigation (HamSCI) research. "In addition to serving University students, this installation will benefit the larger community by being accessible through outreach programs for local high school students and community members and, because of the accessibility of back-up power in the Loyola Science Center, possibilities exist to work with Lackawanna and Luzerne County Emergency Communication Agencies," said Dr. Frissell.

Ham Radio Social 2023:

The IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society 2023 International Microwave Symposium (IMS2023) is hosting a ham radio social event in San Diego, California! All radio amateurs and other interested IMS participants are cordially invited to the event. There will be a complimentary buffet with an array of hot and cold appetizers as well as drinks. The Pointe is a lovely outdoor venue steps outside the hotel and it is where you will meet some of the most interesting and dynamic people at IMS.

Kempton Park Amateur Radio Club Hits the Airwaves:

The Kempton Park Amateur Radio Club (KARTS) operates a repeater radio station that can be utilised by all radio amateurs for casual conversations and during possible disaster situations. A weekly news bulletin is transmitted on Tuesday evenings to inform all listeners about interesting happenings.

Greeneville Hamfest Set April 15 at GC Fairgrounds:

The Andrew Johnson Amateur Radio Club will be hosting Greeneville Hamfest, an amateur radio and electronics swap meet, on Saturday morning, April 15 at the Greene County Fairgrounds. Hours are 6 a.m. to noon. The commercial building will open at 7:30 a.m. Admission to Hamfest is 10 dollar per person with children under 12 admitted free. Although the event is billed as a "get-together of amateur radio operators," anyone interested is invited to attend, event organizers say.

Stone Magnet Middle School Students to Speak with Astronaut Warren Hoburg:

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA -- Stone Magnet Middle School students are scheduled to talk live with astronaut Warren Hoburg on the International Space Station on Friday, March 31. Students will speak with astronaut Hoburg as part of an Amateur Radio on the International Space Station project. Hoburg launched to the International Space Station as Pilot of NASA's SpaceX Crew-6 mission aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft on March 2nd. Goals for ARISS include inspiring an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math subjects and in STEM careers among young people.
