Pryme SPM-2100 Series Reviews: 1 Average rating: 3.0/5 MSRP: $54
Description: The TrooperŪ is a heavy-duty speaker microphone with a high impact resistant, rubber sealed housing. The speaker microphone head has a large PTT button that is easy to activate with gloves on. Every aspect of the TrooperŪ features heavy-duty construction practices. Polyurethane jacketed microphone cable with ample strain relief and an impact resistant, rubber sealed, polycarbonate housing, prepare the TrooperŪ for a long product lifespan, of heavy-duty use, in wet environments. The TrooperŪ has a large Push-To-Talk switch, on the side speaker microphone, that extends over the top and can be easily activated while wearing gloves. The TrooperŪ has a spring loaded metal reinforced clothing clip that can rotate a full 360 allowing the user to wear the TrooperŪ securely with most types of uniforms. The TrooperŪ has a high quality electret condenser-style microphone element that transmits clearly. The TrooperŪ also has a powerful speaker that provides ample sound. For added privacy, the TrooperŪ also has and a 3.5mm earphone jack that allows the user to privately listen to their radio, and provides a clean and professional look.

Great speaker mic, but too heavy-duty  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
Excellent speaker sound: loud, clear, undistorted.
Microphone is reported to produce clear, full sound.
This SPM has a good grip with its size, its two rubber pads on the side and its large PTT switch that gives a confirming click when pushed.

The headphone jack sits on top, which is convenient to access but exposed to rain, should that happen.

For a more detailed product description, see their website.

My major gripe with this SPM is its RINO cable: way too stiff and too stubborn. It has a life and will of its own and doesn't want to submit to your ideas on how to route it. On my HT (Yaesu FT-60), the slightest movement of the cable transfers to the plug, which will then move out of its jack slightly and loses contact (and worse: bridges two contacts inside the HT to key the transmitter!)

I will contact Pryme to see if I can exchange that cable for the previous version, if that is softer. If not, I will have to return it. Too bad, I really like the actual speaker mic!
