High Power Ham Band AM/CW Transmitter  Time owned: more than 12 months
WRL's top of the line AM/CW transmitter builds on many circuit details found in their smaller transmitters ( Osc, buffer, driver) and incorporates the excellent 755 vfo. Built to very conservative standards using the best American components ( Allen Bradley, E.F. Johnson, Eimac, Potter Brumfeld, etc) and using very open and accessable wiring and deep BUD chassis, the Globe King Series is easy to overhaul, and EXTREMELY RELIABLE.
Even rust bucket examples can be successfully overhauled and refurbished at relatively small expense, making them ready for another 30 years of service with little likely hood of any down time.
Very simple substitution of standard value audio coupling capacitors in place of the original " copulate" units yields pleasant audio which can be tailored to suit the users preference including "hi-fi" type response.
Pi-network coupling 80-10 meters will match almost anything, while an external coupler may be necessary for 50 ohm feed lines on 160M only.

This transmitter will produce legal limit 330 watts of RF carrier 100% modulated and will do it day and night until you remember to go key up !

Works as a desk top or floor mounted transmitter. Space here doesn't allow me to describe model differences. GK 400 is similar, but uses plug in coils and different tubes.
