Very good for moding  Time owned: more than 12 months
I've had loads of fun modifying my QR666. Replaced the diode AM detector to a FET based constant impedance type, SSB audio filter, fast/slow switched AGC, seperate VFO power supply and more. I use mine with a skywire (loop) antenna fed through a 1:1 balun to a homebrew preselector. Superbly sensitive very close to a FRG7. :-)

tons of fun!  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
almost a boat anchor, needs a steady hand to tune, sounds like your first radio? it may have been,
re-live those day's of old with the QR-666!
got this baby in great shape off Ebay, for a good price,
don't be fooled by it's slightly cheap exterior & feel.. its extremely sensitive and amazingly quiet, fantastic stability, also has great sound due to a large side firing speaker,
has the old style string/knob/barrel tuning, makes you have to "find" the station your looking for, and thats OK!
I hear this is a rare find, but if you can't get one opt for the next in line, the 300 model, it seems similar, you won't believe the fun you'll have, AM/SSB/CW/FM {optional} an antenna tuner that WORKS! and it comes with a whip!? Im using about 140 ft of wire in my apt, and am getting great reception,
looks cool too.. w/two tone black cabinet and light grey knobs, the tuning & bandspread dials are white {think radio shack dx-200} and s-meter lights in green, all the controls are large enough to get at even with gloves on,
in conclusion this radio is a keeper.. very well done.
