Reviews Summary for Carl and Jerry The Complete Adventures from Popular Electronics
Carl and Jerry The Complete Adventures from Popular Electronics Reviews: 4 Average rating: 5.0/5 MSRP: $15.95 each (4 volumes)
Description: From 1954 through 1964, Popular Electronics published 119 adventures of Carl and Jerry, two teen boys with a passion for electronics and a knack for getting into and out of trouble with haywire lashups built in Jerry's basement. Better still, the boys explained how it all worked, and in doing so, launched countless young people into careers in science and technology.

Great to see it in print!  Time owned: 6 to 12 months
I was too young to read the series when it was first printed. I heard it was being reissued, and pidked up the first volume. I've since read all 5 volumes, each one within a couple of days of receiving it, they're that much fun to read. Kudos to Jeff Duntemann, K7JPD for his work in bringing these stories back. Volume 5 has bonus features, 2 new stories by fans of the series, and an index of the series I felt like a kid again while I read them.

GOOD STUFF  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
These two guys fueled my interest in ham radio back in the 60's. Well worth the trip back down memory lane

Fantastic Series!  Time owned: more than 12 months
Wow! I remember these being one of the reasons I got so interested in ham radio! There was one episode when one of the guys was trapped in an upside-down car and tapped CW on the car radio leads to make QRM and get help. Each of the stories taught a new electronic principle in a fashion that was easy to understand and apply. Wish there was something like that today for the current crop of hams! de KK8ZZ (and that tells you how old I am!)

Brings back old times.  Time owned: 0 to 3 months
During the 50's and 60's my father subscribed to Popular Electronics. I looked forward each month to reading the Carl and Jerry column by John Frye.

Each whodunit story had these teens creating a new very advanced (for its time), usually electronic solution. They always included a complete description of the technical fix.

These volumes of 119 monthly stories are a good read for your youngsters who are constantly bombarded by today's trashified media. Who knows - they might launch a useful career.

Rereading each story leaves me creating similar technical solutions with only slighty updated technology.

These guys probably launched 1000's of electronic careers much as Startrek did with NASA professionals.
