Very reliable Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had my Mark V for about 5 years, and it has not given me any trouble whatsoever. I leave it on all night almost every night. I highly recommend it. A good heavy built base rig with higher power and great sensitivity.

Still a Great Transceiver Time Owned: more than 12 months.
WELCOME HOME....I had loaned my Ft 1000mp to my close friend. I had a Ft 1000 MP field, it was the right thng to do. Got it back, man o live, I didn't realize what I had been missing. Ten years old don't mean poop. They can be had for a grand and you will not be sorry. Quick access to filter control. Awsome audio. Mine , like the field is computer controlled.

Absolutely wonderful rig Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Been using the 'ole' MP for quite some years now in a heavy contest environment at PI4D. Of all the rigs in a multi-multi event, the MP is the favourite of many operators in CW and SSB because it gives you flawless operation. It's got a solid receiver and the transmitter is known for its good SSB modulation. When in SSB, the VOX "sticks" to your lips as if it is not even there. Better than any other transceiver I've worked with. In CW it's about the same for the keying. Talking about CW, if you got the filter-banks filled, there are lot's of ways to combine your filters during operation.
If you can lay your hands on a FT-1000MP, don't hesitate and get it.

Awesome radio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This has been the best radio I have ever owned. Not sure what I can add to the other reviews other than to say the receiver is very quiet, the DSP works very well, and the NB is good a removing line noise at my QTH, although it does add some distortion to signals. The autotuner is the best I have ever seen and it will load up my G5RV on bands that other tuners wouldn't. The tuner also works great on 60 meters, unlike some other radios I have had.

The dual receive is also great, and you can receive on 2 different bands at the same time as long as they aren't too far apart. I could listen to both 20 and 15 at the same time, but not 20 and 10.

For a radio this complex, it is fairly simple to operate, and I don't think you can go wrong with this radio.

A couple of things I wish they had changed on it:
1. You should be able to control the memory keyer without having to use a remote keypad. Really stupid design.

2. I wish you could switch between narrow and wide CW on the subreceive without having to go into the menus.

3. You should be able to switch between the flat and tuned preamp without having to go into the menus.

Other than those things, a great rig!

Love this RIG Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had my MP for 2 years now and I have to say that this is one fine rig. I picked it up used in top condition. I have had no problems with it at all. The RX on this thing is great I can pull out the weak stations when others cant. The TX is even better, I get asked all the time what kind of rack gear I am running in line to get the audio I have. When I say other than a studio mic its all radio, their remark is wow that is some good audio. I dont think I could trade my MP for anything but another MP. If you are looking for a used top quality rig, this is the rig I would pick time and time again.

1000s of hours of flawless operation Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have an early 1000MP DC model. I installed several IRAD filters and a few other mods. I have used this rig during contests, chasing DX (320 confirmed), emergency comm, field day, etc. and it has never failed! transmit gets FB reports and I can hear just about anything. Only minor shortcoming is working in crowded bands during major contests where receiver overloads. This is the best rig that I have ever had and a real workhorse. I recommend this rig to anyone. 73 Rich

GREAT, AWESOME Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I own an OLD 1000MP, the one that one has a 100 watt output. This unit is better than 8 years old. The noise rejection is AWESOME! I use about 10 watts output and I talk to the world! I think the unit itself is very easy to use once I played with it for a while. I would recommend this Yaesu FT-1000MP to anybody. I will NEVER sell this rig as it will be my life long rig. Thank you, KA3TKZ

5++++++++ Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The FT-1000MP is ( in my opinion ) the best HF rig today on the ham
market, or more precisely, the best compromise. But it's not perfect and
there are not such rigs.
The audio whit HC5 is fantastic

A real base station radio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
First,i must say that i was a little septical
about the great reputation of this rig. After all,
how can a 10-years old radio can be better than
a brand new one,even a mid-price model with
latest technology ? Well,i was wrong.Many features
from the FT-1000MP are now available almost every
radio ; DSP,twin VFO's etc... but this rig is in
a class by itself for the receiver.Quieter than
my previous radios (FT-897,IC-746 and TS-690S)
and better interference handling. The DSP is
quite effective to my opinion.Almost every
fonction is available from the front panel instead
of menus like the recent models.
Finally,i really like the size of the rig.
Well worth is value. The used price on the market
make that rig a really good bargain.

Great on AM ! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have often been at the other end of the communications transaction (receive) with the FT-1000MP and I have to give this radio a top score "5" for the quality of audio on AM. I was happy to see these references among the postings, and I would like to add a URL for you to hear for yourself its capabilities. (at the end)

From Donald -- N2DY --
Another "hidden talent" of the MP is its ability on AM. AM is going through a revival these days and the MP is one of the best modern rigs on that mode. My station is set up in a small extra bedroom and so I no longer have room for the old-time AM gear of the past. The MP is a good compromise. AM audio is quite good for a ricebox and receive fidelity is excellent in the AM mode.

From WA4RX , Rob, now AE4X
The receiver quality audio on this (especially AM listening) is wonderful. The ability to tailor not only receive audio but transmit audio is amazing.
