Excellent rig, great flexibility Time Owned: unknown months.
Would like to add my kudos to this list for the FT-1000MP. This is my second one, manufactured some time last year. My first, was a 1997 vintage, but had to sell it during a fiscal sea change. I really can't add much to what has been already been said, but I have chosen the MP after owning most of the current mid-range to high-end rigs. Yes, that included 1000Ds(2), IC-781, IC-775DSP, Omni VI+s(2), TS-870S, IC-756, and IC-765. I have not owned nor operated the TS-950SDX. Of the rigs available, the MP allows more customization than the others, a feature I really value. The many menu settings means I can set the radio to the way I like it to sound and operate. The many features and functions built-in helped get a lot of clutter off the operating position. As a DX hunter, the dual receive is the best of the lot, in my opinion, even the 1000D. Yes, there are a couple of nits to pick, but they are few, the display bleed can be tough on the eye during a contest weekend, and the full-break-in is not Ten-Tec, but not being a CW rag chewer at 35 wpm, the MP implementation is Ok. Must also recommend the INRAD IF mod. It really improved the radio's performance. Have the AGC mod, but have mixed feelings about it. All-in-all, I'm very happy with the 1000MP and can recommend it to those shopping for a new radio. It's an excellent value for the money spent.

Defective :( Time Owned: unknown months.
My brother went to the states last march and got me an MP from HRO in Anaheim, CA. When I got it I was so busy that I left it untoched for three weeks. Today I opend it up and hooked it and fired but to my dissmay it was defective!!! now that would'nt be such a big deal if I was in the states, but I am in KUWAIT!!!! The rig is stuck on 40 meters and on lsb and every button that I pushed got stuck!!!! called HRO and they told me to send it back to them ( there goes $300 ) and did'nt promess any replacement!! I don't want this one to be fixed.. its a piece of junk!! I want a new one but what can I do when I have couple of countris and some seas between me and HRO!! does that suck or what?

Absolutely love it! Time Owned: unknown months.
Just traded a 950SDX and got a Yaesu 1000MP. Spent all day in HRO in Atlanta comparing rigs.....kudos to HRO for having a setup where you can compare yourself under real world conditions. Really thought I would buy 756Pro. To be honest I liked the receive audio of the 746 better than the pro. Matching signals on receive the 746 and the pro were the same. Of course blocking and adjacent signal selectivity of the pro were better.

Now to the MP. Boy just love the reciver. S6 static clashes. On the Yaesu they seem very much in the background where on the Icoms they were much more prominent. FM kind of audio with voices just popping out. Great smooth CW....love it! Prefer slow agc even on CW. To my ears the kind of radio you can listen to for long periods without getting fatigue. As far as ergonomics....and this is from someone who hasn't had the radio long but I like the tuning knob and layout of the 950 the best. It has a very smooth tuning knob and functional controls scream class. Prefered the layout of the Icom over the Yaesu...more intuitive and easier to get around. Everyone has different priorities with a radio....mine is unfatigueing receive audio and the 1000MP is a winner. All of this is IMHO of course.

AES and The FT1000MP Time Owned: unknown months.
Sent the rig to AES and they found it had a problem. They are sending me a new one. The first one was received with a cold start problem. Two thumbs up AES!

Just got the rig and noticed that the unit was not working properly. The rig when cold changes freq and somtimes rec and tans drops out. I called AES and they are sending a new ref xtal. Will install and see. Anyway if you have had this problem please let me know. Once warm it works fine and I think it is a real nice RIG!

Near Perfect Except for... Time Owned: unknown months.
After 2 1/2 years of phone, digital and cw operation I can't think of one feature to add or one that needs improvement....

except maybe the price, it could be less.

This is the best radio I have ever owned!! Time Owned: unknown months.
I have owned my 1000MP for about 2 months and all I can say is wow!! I had the Icom 756 before and there is a great deal of difference. I was able to A/B the two radios and the 1000MP was far better. On CW signals were clear that could not be heard on the 756. The DSP is great, as is the QSK. So far the only complaint comes from my wife who says I am spending to much time on the radio!!
Bottom line is that I have owned a lot of radios in 27 years as a ham and the 1000MP is the best!!

Plenty of operating choices in this rig. Time Owned: unknown months.
I've had the 1000MP for just a month and have a good deal more to learn, but so far - so good. I just sold an Omni VI, which was better on cw. The VI also had an outstanding Passband tuning system. It takes experience to determine which of the many filtering systems works best on which occasions. I also had a 1000D, which I loved. The MP has everything the D had, except I think the D had better dynamic range and adjacent strong signal blocking. The DSP is nice. The NB takes out the neighbor's electric fence 100%.The TX Ground switch is a pain. Why recessed? I think this will be my last rig after 58 years of hamming. I'm happy with it.

Best transceiver on the market Time Owned: unknown months.
I have been using the "1000MP" for about two years now and think that it is the best HF rig I have ever been associated with. The only problems that I have experienced have ended up being my lack of knowledge about the machine. I normally operate on the phone bands using an Ameritron 800H running 200 t0 1`500 watts and always(well almost) great signal reports. Especially the voice quality. The ability to adjust the transmission tonal quality and readability has really gotten me many compliments. The reliability of the MP is has made me a believer. Although I will admit that I am a Yaesu person, I really believe that the gentleman who said that MP stands for "Master Piece" may very well have hit it "on the head". I love the FT 1000MP.

is
great.
