Still needs work Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have upgraded to the latest version of SDR-RADIO to see if it has improved since the last time I tested it. I am sorry to say that it still needs help. It probably could be a good SDR program if the author would stop adding new features and just correct the current bugs first.

I was excited to try this software when it first was made available. I compare it against HDSDR which I also use a lot. I agree with the earlier reviewer that new broken features are added to sdr-radio long before existing broken features are fixed. It is as if the author is trying to get everything including the kitchen sink in the software before some deadline. There are a lot of confusing configuration options, various versions either work or work partially on some computers, and sdr-radio crashes a lot.

HDSDR on the other hand, if a pleasure to work with. Unlike sdr-radio, HDSDR works with a lot of other SDR hardware than the Rf Space SDRs that sdr-radio is only targeted at. Sdr-radio allows remote operation of other Rf space SDRs over the internet. Most of the time, the internet connection is not fast enough so you get pauses in the audio and spectrum display in sdr-radio. Other times it will just lock up completely.

I fear that sdr-radio will end up with the same fate as Ham Radio Deluxe, which was sold by the same author.

My conclusion is that this software is just not ready for prime time yet.

great with SDR-IQ Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
SDR_RADIO is free and works great with my RFSpace SDR-IQ. The SDR-RADIO site is one stop for SDR-RADIO download and needed drivers, etc.. If you own(ed) other SDR's that send you on a scavenger hunt for all this and more, then you'll appreciate SDR-RADIO simplicity.

I run a Win 7 PC, Core 2 Duo, Nvidia card. SDR-Radio also supports several other SDR models, but it does work great with SDR-IQ.

FUNsoftware Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I just upgraded to Version 1.5 which is astonishing. The automatic image rejection works as a dream. Images just disappear under the noise level from S9+40db using the FUNcube. This the best piece of software ever tried.

Fantastic piece of software. You can use it with a local radio or remote one. I used this as the softare control for the FUNcube Pro SDR receiver.
Image rejection works very well. Great demodulation and DSP filtering. The sat window is just great. Lots of features in just one sofware. You don't need a big receiver with this great software.

too many issues Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This software is made by the maker of HRD and as a result comes with a plethora of issues that make using the software questionable. Features difficult to accomplish are setting up Remote Access, recording IQ files, and just configuration problems. There is a Yahoo Group for the software for questions but there always appear to be more questions than answers. Also the developer keeps adding new features in new 'kits' before assuring the features in older kits work properly. I recommend Spectravue, or HDSDR instead. Using SDR- Radio will frustrate your enjoyment of using radios like SDR-IQ or Funcube as well as using the software as a panadapter for transceivers with IF outputs.
