It won't do the job.			Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
My portable transceiver needed more volume in noisy environments than it could provide with its small internal speaker, so I purchased the Workman 715 amplified external speaker Attached to a good 12 volt power supply, I didn't notice any amplification, and in fact the transceiver volume may even have been slightly attenuated with the 715 in line. To be fair, there was some reduction in background noise and a fuller sound, but absolutely no increased volume. The item came with no instructions, or troubleshooting advice, making it difficult to determine if this is a single defective unit or a badly designed product overall. Based upon my experience with the Workman 715,if amplification is what you are seeking, save your money and pass on this one.

I bought this on e-bay hoping that it would be better than the radio shack amplified speaker I'm using now;but unfortunately it isn't.no information came with the package so I don't know anything about " talkback " or whatever.there is a switch on the back which doesn't appear to make any difference in the audio quality or noise reduction catagories and the distortion level is about the same as the radio shack,which isn't too bad.HOWEVER,as I swapped between the two speakers,I noticed the output volume level is about 30% higher in the radio shack speaker !! FOR THIS REASON,I would suggest buying the radio shack speaker for about the same price.
