Nice Piece of Software Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've used Chirp to program several models of Baofeng HT's and find it works great. I read radios and save the virgin program for each radio before I continue and keep the image for each radio should I need to restore back to out of the box status. The ability to "query data source" and get frequencies for various repeater in different areas is very handy. There are lots of reference sources and hams willing to help if you have problems.

Totally useless app. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I tried using Chirp and couldn't get it to work AT ALL. Someone needs to write an INTUITIVE radio-programming app with features that ACTUALLY WORK when you press a button.

I do NOT recommend Chirp... it's a total waste of time and hard drive space.

Great Product Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have used this software to program my radios.

Yaesu: FT8900, FT897D, FT-60, VX-7R
Baofeng: UV-B5
Icom: T70

This product works exactly as advertised and I have had no issues with it. I would highly recommend this programming software to anyone who programs multiple radios. It is fast and easy to use.

Excellent Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I tried using using my purchased software on Vista laptop and then on an old XP desktop. I also purchased the "special USB" cord but to no avail. Within minutes of downloading to my Vista laptop, I was programming my 817 with Chirp!
Thank you so much.
I will be donating!

Free and functional Time Owned: more than 12 months.
OK it should be a 4.6 but Eham insists on clinging to a 1-5 rating system a 1 - 10 would be better...

...OK off the soapbox & now to Chirp...great stuff for the money HiHi

... Easily programs all my rigs and features are great...

Fantastic & Free! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Wish I would have known about this before ordering the RT software, which requires the RT proprietary USB cable for my Wouxun HT. The Wouxun USB cable that I bought with the radio won't work with it. I found that out the hard way.

Chirp does everything I need & it is FREE! I now have a $30 RT software CD coaster until someone finds a way to manually configure COM ports on the RT software.

Wouxun KG-UVD1P/UV2D/UV3D

Why can't manufacturers support this effort? There would be a win-win situation for maker and users!

Anyhow, this software works fine on a variety of software platforms and provides an easy way to manage freq lists on your transceiver...

I've used this software on my Yaesu VX-3R and UV3R... works like a treat!

Pretty Good and the price is right! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
It works reliably and on a number of radios I own. The price is certainly right too. This is one more step towards not having to boot into Windows at all for me as well. Really great to be able to program radios in linux finally.

It badly needs more features, hopefully and likely already on the roadmap, as in sort by frequency or alpha, collapse empty frequencies etc.

A good tip is to simply download from the radio, export to CSV and do your sorting and manipulations in openoffice.org, then re-import to Chirp and load. This way you get the power of the tools in a spreadsheet to handle the missing functions and make things easier.

Works on the Mac just fine. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have a sketchy cable I bought online. I have to make sure the USB cable is plugged into the right hub but after that it works fine for programming my VX-8DR. My Mac required a Python runtime and it runs using X11.
