great for fring area Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought this antenna just to see if it would improve my mobile reception in fringe areas and to my surprise it has done very well. I do wonder up into the mountains on Vancouver Island trout fishing and have found that the Comet CA-2x4SR is a very nice wide band antenna but it didn't have enough gain for where I was going. So far the SG7900NMO has filled the gap nicely. I'm hearing repeaters that didn't even now were there before installing this antenna. I'm hoping the newer version has improved the center coil and it won't freeze up and brake.

Awesome mobile & Base antenna! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I purchased this antenna about two months ago & it has worked flawlessly! I run my FT-60r with it and it hits repeaters in tampa from spring hill florida on 5 watts full quieting with an s7 return. Not bad @ all! One thing i do not like about it is that it does not flex! Although it is made from stainless steel it is not spring steel. Not recommended for magnet or through the roof mount NMO because its tall, @ 62" it can be damaged very easy & or knocked off your roof. I used a K400 mount on the Left rear corner of my truck on the lift gate. I also use the UHF version of this model & mounted it to the side of my second floor apt window sill, works beautifuly there as well!! Cant wait to see how it works with a 50 watt mobile unit. 73's KK4EQE
