Specially manufactured for DX Engineering - Sold by the foot cut to your specified length.

A premium, low loss 50 ohm coaxial cable with a special Type III-A UV-resistant polyethylene jacket which is ideal for any outdoor applications - particularly suited for direct burial.

With its larger AWG #10 center conductor, this 50 ohm cable is specially suited for high-power amateur stations, it provides a lower loss solution for long cable runs at any power level. Gas Injected Foam Polyethylene dielectric. High reliability and long life are key elements in choosing this cable.

The highest level of shielding is assured by the bonded aluminum tape covered with a tinned copper shield braid.
Uses standard PL-259 connectors, and N connectors such as the DXE-N1001-S.

Great coax Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have had great service over the years with DX Engineering products and that's why I placed the two recent orders for cable with you. I have completly renovated my tower antennas and disposed of the three cushcraft beams and gone with the SteppIR 3 element with the 40/30 add on. What an antenna, words hardly describe it, but felt that as long as I did this I should upgrade the coax too which, of course, is the reason for the orders. 73 Lew K0LEW

Great Coax at a Great Price Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This stuff is great!!

It has one of the toughest jackets that I've ever seen on a braided coax. The only jacket tougher would be that used on hardline.

Get this stuff if you need to bury a braided coax (and cannot afford hardline). Do not mess around with LMR400UF or Belden 9913F, both of which are inferior (and more expensive) than the DXE product.

Really good coax Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
My VHF/UHF antenna was fed with 9913, which is hard to work with, but provides low loss. In spite of trying to firmly anchor the cable to the mast, I experienced several connection failures at the antenna end as the slight flexing in the wind bent the cable and broke the cable's center conductor at the N connector.

The antenna is now connected with DXE-400MAX cable, which gives very low loss, as the 9913 does, but with some advantages.

1. The center conductor is stranded. That should reduce center conductor failures at the antenna.

2. The dielectric material is a foam that is bonded to the center conductor and the foil in the jacket. That should reduce any water ingress problems.

3. The cable is more flexible than 9913. That's not to say that it's especially flexible, but it's better in this respect than 9913. That makes it a lot easier to work with.

The DXE price on this cable is actually a few cents per foot lower than some of the RG-8 cables. So it seems to present an attractive combination of features and price.

Yes, good stuff Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Very good cable at a reasonable price, delivered safely wrapped exactly when promised. I expect no less from DX Engineering. These guys are good.

For connectors, be sure you purchase PL-259s designed for LMR-400 and similar-sized cable. Otherwise, you will have to modify the center conductor or booger up the connector. I've gone to crimp-ons (I still solder the center conductor, of course) and will never go back. Quicksilver Radio has a good crimp tool and stocks the correct size PL-259 crimp-on connectors.

Or just buy your coax with the connectors already attached. DXE does a good job of that, too, at a reasonable cost.

Another 100', another satisfied customer Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
While I still adore this cable (and DXE)...I do need to make 2 super-minor complaints:

1) Whatever DXE uses for a machine to coil this stuff as they cut it...its needs some tweaking. This last bunch was all twisted around in the middle. Not the end of the world.

2) When attaching PL-259 ends (Amphenol or however its spelled), I need to break off about 4 strands of the center conductor...otherwise it won't fit in the center pin. That could likely be operator error, but if I don't break them off the center pin jams-up on the inside of the plug as I'm screwing it on and I end up w/ a copper mushroom when I take the connector off to see whats wrong.

STILL GREAT CABLE, WITHOUT THE GIANT FANCY PRICE.

As usual w/ DXEngineering, my order of 120' of DXE-400MAX arrived mere days after ordering. It was packed very well, and had no nicks or bends or crushing damage. Cable works perfectly, has all the same specs as LMR-400...and costs over 1/3 less. Anyone buying 400 anywhere else must really like wasting money.

DXEngineering, as usual, performed excellently and provided me w/ a top-notch product at a reasonable price. I didn't expect anything less.

To date I've purchased from DXE:
Hustler 6BTV
220' of DXE-400MAX
MFJ-259b
2 lightning arrestors
a few other thigns I'm forgetting

On EVERY SINGLE ORDER...DXE's service was great! The 6BTV was my first purchase, and showed up bent. It was obvious the damage was from the shipper...but DXE gladly fixed the situation and I had a replacement within 2 days.

Anyways...the cable is great, the company is great, long live DXEngineering!

Excellet low loss coax costs 36% less than an industry leader Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
As a newly licensed operator June, 2011, I was not aware of DX Engineering, an outstanding web based retailer of amateur radio products. As a result, I bought a competitor's top line coax from a different seller and paid $1.29 a foot compared to $0.82 a foot for DXE-400MAX buriable cable. I discovered DX Engineering and since buy all my cable and other antenna components from them. The only discernible difference in the two cables (including the exact same attenuation factor), is the price. It is 36% less for DXE-400MAX. You get to enjoy truly outstanding sales advice, same day shipping, plus you can be assured that your purchase will be packaged to withstand the rigors of whichever carrier you choose, which is sometimes included at no additional charge on select items. Excellent product, excellent advice, excellent service for a lower price. What's not to like?
