marginal performer Time Owned: more than 12 months.
well Ive been using this thing off and on for 3 years now and its only a have to case when i use it.I originally bought it thinking it would make a good secondary antenna system for back up,but was really disappointed in every aspect of it.Yes the plastic coating comes off because it is not UV rated. That is what you get when you try to use THHN electrical wire for an antenna.Thats the same stuff I pull into conduit at work.Makes for a nasty antenna. Dont count on using this antenna without a tuner, and then have fun getting a match you like.A resonant dipole will perform a lot better and you will be happier with the reports.I have worked the world with this thing but was straining to do so.My friends appreciate when I am not using it.Best use for this antenna would be to hang it close to the ground so your wife can use it for a clothes line,or if your cement block wont load up plug in the dxcc......dont waste your money time and patience

Great but note this Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Antenna works great except you have to live with what ever you get on 15M because it's not tunable. They tell you up front SWR on 10M may be 2:1 over the band but the real kucker is where all the wires come together at the venter insulator, they don't have lugs on them. They are indiviually u-shaped around a bolt with washer spacers. Any loosening of the bolt/nut due to wind, vibrationm etc, down they come. So, recommend adding soldered lugs to mechanically hold the wires onto the feedpoint.

Still going strong Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had this antenna for several years now and have had no problems with it. I recently lowered it down to inspect everything and give it a slight re-tuning on 20 and 10 meters. Other than some weathering everything was in great shape. My only gripe is that I would prefer the antenna to be made with high quality stranded wire. Getting the kinks and bends out of solid conductor wire is a pain. If you want a well constructed antenna that lasts for years get this one

12 years and going strong Time Owned: more than 12 months.
The DXCC has been faithful to me. 100 watts and qrp contacts on ssb and cw. in my humble opinion the 75/80 meter section is kinda worthless. I never have gotten good signal reports on that band. I have worked the world on the rest, including WARC bands. I think it will be in my pine trees at least another 12 years.

Solid Performer Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Have had good luck using this antenna on a very small lot. Have the center at only 30' above ground, the two sides have 90 degree turns at the midpoints, then slope down to the ends at about 10' off the ground.

Excellent on 40-10 (including WARC bands with a tuner). Only 80, the bandwidth is very narrow (it is a "shortened" 80 meter dipole) and doesn't put out much of a signal, but I'm sure thats at least partially due to the relatively low height of my installation.

The stiff solid conductors are a bit difficult to unkink and leave the antenna looking a bit "wrinkled" but it doesn't seem to affect the performance.

One tough antenna Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Mine lasted over 2 years. A few weeks ago an F3 tornado "visited" my neighborhood. The DXCC (held up by 3/16 dacron/kevlar rope) stayed in one piece while my ceramic dogbones were ripped apart and the supporting 60' trees were turned into kindling.

One end flew into the neighbor's yard and he cut the end off (the 80M section) with a chainsaw.

Over-Priced Antenna Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I was given this antenna new for free from a HAM friend in 1990 for the November Sweeps Contest.

The wires are just Electrical coated copper and very rigid. The antenna looked crooked and the insulators always moved.

The antenna never looked good. I installed it in inverted Vee off my 48' tower.

Didn't work all that well and after about 3 years the plastic coating came off.

After I moved in 1997 I just put the antenna in a green garbage bag and tossed it in the trash. Who would pay for a bunch of worn-out electrical wiring?

Thank god it was free cause the antenna is $200.00 Canadian.

I recently (Sept 2002) purchased a Butternut HF2V c/w 160 Meter kit which works better.

Even if I don't like the HF2V....at least I can sell it!!!!!!!

Piece of junk Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Horrible SWR! Tremendous amount of reflected RF into the house even with everything well grounded. Antenna is made out of very thick wire and is difficult to impossible to straighten when putting up. Will look rather wrinkled once it's in the air. I believe the junction connection where all the wires comes together should have been more securely fastened as well as it is possible to work loose. SWR is so high that the static discharger cartridge at the apex keeps discharging and shorting out my rig.
This thing is a cruel 120 dollar hoax :( And I fell for it hook, line and sinker.

Works well very happy Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Passed the M3 call in January 2002 and allowed to use 10 watts on HF bands.
Purchased the antenna direct from the States and have placed it up 60 feet between a tower and a 30 foot pole on house.
Very happy and even on 10 watts had serveral State side contacts, not great signals but far better than my 1/2 G5RV.
The antenna even tuned up with no ATU on all of 40M and most of 20 and 80M.

Very Forgiving Antenna Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I installed this antenna at much lower than the 35' that it was tested at. I had no choice with the landlord restrictions that I have.
Installed in an inverted "V" at 23' from the peak of the roof the length of my new manufactured home (16x76) was the only way I could go. And, as calculated, the ends were only just off the roof of the home.
When tuning my IC-746 with the auto tuner, I noted that if I turned the power up that both 80 and 15 meters were reluctant to tune to the top ends of the bands. I removed 4-6 " from each of these segments of the antenna and the tuning problems all went away.
I get good reports all over the world with just the 100 watts that the ICOM 746 puts out.
Not the cheapest antenna out there for a dipole but the construction is pretty heavy duty and it holds up to the sudden bursts of wind that we get in AZ. And if you have limited space and want to work all bands from 80-10, this is not a bad deal.
