Reviews: 1MSRP: 99.95
Description:
Analog AM/FM/shortwave/LW portable receiver. The Realistic DX-360 (cat. no. 20-208) first appeared in the 1984 Radio Shack catalog at a price of $99.95, with the catalog noting that the radio would be available September 30, 1983. The radio is approximately 4.5 by 10.25 by 1.75 inches in size. It operates on 4 AA cells. In addition to the AM (520-1620 kHz) and FM (mono, 88-108 MHz) broadcast bands, it has six shortwave bands (4.5-5.5 MHz, 5.8-7.5 MHz, 8.2-10.0 MHz, 11.4-14.0 MHz, 14.6-18.2 MHz, 21.0-26.1 MHz), along with a long wave band (150-265 kHz). Its price was lowered to $79.95 in the 1986 catalog. Its price went up to $89.95 in the 1990 catalog - the last year it was offered in the Radio Shack catalog.

Good radio for its time and price point Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I picked up a DX-360 a few months ago at a local flea market for $10. I remember seeing it offered for several years in the Radio Shack catalog. The other day, I dusted it off and started to play with it. I had to blast some contact cleaner through the shortwave band selector switch to get shortwave to work reliably.

This radio has a date code of 7A3 (July 1983). It was manufactured in Taiwan. Internally, there was no indication of who was the OEM.

The AM broadcast band and shortwave performance are as expected. It suffers in comparison to the more capable Radio Shack DX-440, but seems to perform better than more modern analog shortwave receivers like the Grundig Mini 300 PE and Kaito WRX911. FM reception is a little weak, but acceptable. The indicator on the slide rule tuning dial is reasonably accurate. There is no external antenna jack, and no SSB capability.

There is really nothing about this radio that annoys me. Given it's price point and when it was manufactured, I'll give it a 4/5.
