Best Chinese 811A Tube Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Taylor are sold by RF Parts. These tubs are pre-tested by RF Parts. They seem to cull out bad tubes. These are your best best for a new Chinese 811A tube.

Edit- The Taylor 811A is still the most reliable due to RF Parts tube screening. Quote from another member:
'The G-811 anode had been physically strengthened from the US 811 for military aircraft use but it does not change the dissipation rating due to the location/position of the fold.'
Physics Laws: When mass is added (increased plate size) to a tube plate, the dissipation rating is increased. Geez.

A tragic attempt to defraud buyers Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Edit 8-19-21 7:35 PM

The RF parts 811"A" is far from the most reliable and they only test at a static voltage. They will fail the same as any other fraudulent make believe Chinese 811A when over dissipated during tuning. If you want them really tested at RF buy from Ameritron.

The G-811 is an excellently built 811...period.

In a thread on the Eham Amplifier forum recently I detailed the physical construction of the G-811 anode and also covered a Taylor version and commented on how bad it was built as are all Shuguang versions, Taylor is simply a painted on name by Shuguang. I suggest reading it.

The G-811 is in no way even close to a RCA 811A in actual measured plate dissipation and no amount of refusing to understand the facts and posting incorrectly over and over will turn it into one. The only way to find out the difference is conduct actual tests which I, W8JI, and others have done. The welded on U channels of the RCA 811A is the true way to increase mass, the G-811 fold method was for adding strength to the anode for Russian combat aircraft

End of edit

For starters this review title is wrong as there is no Taylor 811, it is sold as their 811A which makes a huge difference. When used in a 811A amp run them at a maximum of 150W PEP SSB and 125W CW per tube and with a very fast tune procedure. They will then give good service but dont expect RCA life on a consistent basis

All 811A marked tubes produced since the 90's when USA production ended are from China and are not even close to the old RCA and other US manufacturers specifications and reliability.

Fraud is the operative word as they are actually a Shuguang FU-811 which is still available with proper markings and ratings.

Shuguang, Psvane, Ameritron, and retail tube sellers are well aware of this fraud but continue the deception which is perpetuated on a few forums.

The Shuguang spec sheet link below is from 1973 and is a "Chinese" copy of the Russian G-811 from back during WW2 which has never been produced as an 811A except a short and failed attempt by the Russian Svetlana company. It was copied from the 1939 RCA 811 and a crash landed B-29 bomber in Asiatic Russia with the ART-13 transmitter. They copied the complete airplane which became the TU4 heavy bomber which is still flying as an updated version.

The G-811 anode had been physically strengthened from the US 811 for military aircraft use but it does not change the dissipation rating due to the location/position of the fold. The Russians were still using vacuum tubes in military aircraft into the late 90's at least as they are not destroyed from nuclear or other energy bursts which destroy solid state equipment.

The Russian Svetlana 811A was another fraud attempt which backfired and was removed from the market. The original Russian G-811 logo is still visible under the Svetlana paint.

update to 2012 Time Owned: more than 12 months.
update 2021-these taylor 811 tubes are still plugging along. never had any issue with them in my amp. i purcheased another amp and installed new taylor in them also. not a problem. ide buy again.
2016-still running the 811a taylors in my 811h amp. used regularly.. I decided as the price of these in 4 yrs has gone from 19.95-21.95 to 31.95 now in 2016 ide better buy some backups,so I ordered a quad set.. did I need them?? probably not,but I opted for the taylors over other brands and the new old stock cetrons with the 90 day warranty..these are a great tube, and I feel the price will only continue to climb, along with steve the manager at rf parts...

Excellent Tubes Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I bought a matched set to replace the no brand generic tubes that were supplied with my 6 year old MFJ AL-811 amplifier. The MFJ tubes suffered from silvered plates (over heated) which was due to my mis-tuning while learning to use the AL-811. The TAYLOR tubes seem more robust and restored full power. So far after 8 months the plates still look in original condition.
