Reviews: 84MSRP: 399
Description:
The Alpha FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) Multiband antenna is a complete multiband 500W PEP SSB multipurpose HF system that is pre-tuned, requires no moving clips on coils or readjusting of whips for tuning, and easily deploys in 120 seconds. When installed over a poor ground or not placed in a clear area, a perfect SWR match of 1:1 on all frequencies/bands is easily achieved with your tuner. When fully deployed with the included NVIS element, the antenna system can be configured to launch your signal at your target in the opposite direction the NVIS element is run. For an omnidirectional signal pattern, you may remove the NVIS element. System and options include a Padded Field Bag, Alpha Match, 13 foot aluminum military type Mil-Stick whip available in 26 or 13 inch sections, Heavy Duty Tripod that requires no guying or Light Duty Tripod, Stainless Steel Jaw Mount, Active NVIS wire elements, and Counterpoise.

FMJ Update with New 17’ Stainless Steal Whip Time Owned: more than 12 months.
December 23, 2014

I set up the Alpha FMJHD yesterday for the first time. My first contact was London, England on 20 meters. I’m using an Icom 7000 with a MFJ 994B tuner and the shack is in Spring Hill, Florida. SWR was less than 1.0. Prior to purchasing I contacted Steven at Alpha Antennas with a few question. This was on a weekend and in the evening. Got an email back with my questions answered in less than an hour. Product is well made, very efficient, with outstanding technical support. Highly recommend

Im using this antenna as my Base Station Antenna Yaesu FT DX10

Installed the new 17 foot stainless steel whip on the FMJ Match and contacts SWR was less than 2. Antenna is mounted on a DX Commander 12 meter pole at 32 feet, which puts antenna at a height of about 49 feet. Contacts with new Antenna are from 10/13/2024. Arizona, Texas, Wales, Italy and Fernando de Noronha Island, Delaware, and Pau France.

P.S. I have this antenna 10 years and still works Great.

Fabulous antenna! Still loving it after 3 years! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
As a totally blind ham, this antenna was extremely easy to set up! Thanks to Alpha Antenna, I was able to get back on the air on HF after more than 16 years of radio silence! During Field Day 2021, I made 70 contacts from Hawaii to New Hampshire to Florida from Arizona running 5 watts from an Icom IC-703! This antenna is also durable. It is surviving a summer with several monsoon storms featuring dust and high winds. I can't recommend this antenna enough, especially for hams with disabilities who may have physical challenges or limited practical skills setting up hardware. Almost three years later, and I'm still loving my Alpha FMJ antenna! I just completed the 2024 ARRL International DX CW Contest where I earned 80850 points across a total of 245 contacts working 65 countries over approx 15 hours of operating time all with 100 Watts to an Alpha FMJ vertical antenna mounted on a tripod in the back yard! Propagation was incredible on 10M, 15M and even 20M running late in to the evening all over the place. I've never experienced conditions quite like this ever in my 38 years being a ham!

The Best Portable HF Setup Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I had just recently received the FMJ with tripod and all the extras. I can’t say anything more than this is the absolute best portable HF antenna setup out there. I’ve looked at and tried many, nothing else compares. It’s the perfect addition to my off grid QRP rig. The workmanship and quality all around is top notch. If you’re eyeing this up do not hesitate.

Great Antenna & Great Customer Service Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This is a great portable antenna. I set it up as soon as it arrived. It was quick and easy to set up and very stable. I was making contacts right away operating QRP on 80, 40 and 20m. More importantly the customer service from Alpha was unbelievable. Ultra fast responses to my questions including after hours and on a weekend. This level of customer service is rare theses days and much appreciated.

Awesome portable antenna Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
After doing a 9 day POTA trip with my elmer, and he was using this antenna, I had to have one for myself. I love it!

Setup and takedown is less than 5 minutes, including properly winding up the coax to avoid kinks. I use it with 100 watts SSB. Right away, I added two states that have eluded me. The performance seems much better than my screwdriver I mag mount on the roof of my minivan. Once day, I will have to do some measured tests.

It works great with my rig with the automatic antenna tuner (Kenwood TS480sat). The construction is top notch. The leg length adjusters are very easy to use and conveniently located at the TOP of the lower section of the legs. Much better design than my photo tripods! The tripod stance can be as wide as you need for stability as well. This tripod and antenna present very little surface area to the wind, so I think it can handle quite a bit.

73 and POTA on (or ARES/RACES or contesting, or rag chewing, whatever your favorite operation is!). Doug

I love the portability and light weight, but most of all, I like that it's quick to set up and take down, leaving more time to play radio!

Great portable antenna to defeat HOA Rules Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I sold my Buddipole to purchase the Alpha FMJ and I am sure glad I did! I liked the Buddipole but having to tune it each time I changed bands was a pain. I’ve used the FMJ for 2 Field Days and 2 Winter Field Days and all I can say is WOW! Using a Xiegu G90 with 20 watts, I work just about everything with a decent signal I can hear on 40-10. Just amazed that it even works on 40! It will tune 80 but have not yet made a contact with it. This Field Day, I set it up on the back deck of our Arkansas townhouse and worked a dozen or so states in 4 hours of operation under below average band conditions. It sets up in less than 5 minutes and no tuning needed, tho I do a touch up tune in the Xiegu. It’s made of heavy duty components that I am sure will last many years and their customer service is oursatanding. I highly recommend this antennna!

Alpha Antenna Mil 2.0 Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I bought the Mil 2.0 used over a year ago when I first got my general lic. because I love camping and operating.
The setup i received was the older version with the black Alpha match and black aluminum vertical element.
It worked well for me to the point I wanted to mobil so I took the black match to mount to the car and ordered another match for my portable setup.
The match i received was a newer upgraded version and a EXCELLENT improvement !!!
They moved the coax SO239 to the side rather then out the bottom in the earlier version, there is a seperate connection on the side for the NVIS element to attach, and the outside shell is a much better looking 3D printed dome shape compared to the (clunky) pvc earlier version.
Later on when I was camping with the aluminum vertical on the updated match a tree fell in a storm and snapped my element at the base nut..
I ordered another vertical element to be ready for field day and the shipping was here FAST! Best yet I was presently suprised to realize they had upgraded the vertical to a much sturdier brass element the connections seem much improved, the attachment to your mounting choice is a huge improvement just a much improved upgrade!
I'm very happy with my purchase, if you watch YOUTUBE reviews they will compare the older version and not the newer with mixed opinions but let me assure you the updated version blows all the mixed reviews of the early version out of the water! I also want to add the customer support is fast and understanding. I'm so very happy with Alpha Antenna ill continue to do business far into the future!

Excellent - Multipurpose Antenna Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This was my first major antenna purchase after obtaining my general license. I wanted something that would work in my HOA restricted neighborhood, as well as, on the road during vacation and adventures. So far, it has been my workhorse. I've mostly worked FT8 and have well over 2K QSOs. All the way from Russia to Australia. For a new Ham, I couldn't be happier. Initially, I was in contact with Alpha support a couple of times. The response was super quick, even over the weekend. The product works as described, well built, and performs as expected.

Excellent Product and Support Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Received the Alpha FMJ antenna in perfect shape and deployed it in a test the next day. It handled 80-6 meters without a hitch. Tested with a local ham about 15 miles away. During our test I was able to receive many stations with good power and audio quality. And weak stations also were heard. Overall, this is an excellent product and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a high quality, well built, portable antenna system. It has a proven performance history. Don't forget about the excellent customer support!

Alpha FMJ Review Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Recently purchased the Alpha FMJ Antenna this week. Customer service is extremely helpful, and willing to make it right! This antenna is going to be used for POTA. The SWR using a MFJ Antenna Analyzer is 1.1 to 1.4 across all bands. The set up is about 5 minutes total from start to finish with very minimal things to set up. It is good for all types of set ups from POTA, Emergency Ops, and HOA. A good starter antenna for those new to HF.
