Reviews: 82MSRP: 399
Description:
The Alpha FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) Multiband antenna is a complete multiband 500W PEP SSB multipurpose HF system that is pre-tuned, requires no moving clips on coils or readjusting of whips for tuning, and easily deploys in 120 seconds. When installed over a poor ground or not placed in a clear area, a perfect SWR match of 1:1 on all frequencies/bands is easily achieved with your tuner. When fully deployed with the included NVIS element, the antenna system can be configured to launch your signal at your target in the opposite direction the NVIS element is run. For an omnidirectional signal pattern, you may remove the NVIS element. System and options include a Padded Field Bag, Alpha Match, 13 foot aluminum military type Mil-Stick whip available in 26 or 13 inch sections, Heavy Duty Tripod that requires no guying or Light Duty Tripod, Stainless Steel Jaw Mount, Active NVIS wire elements, and Counterpoise.

Greal Portavle Vertical Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I am very impressed with this portable vertical. I have the 6-160 version with the alpha matching box. This antenna has a SWR of less than 2.9 on all bands 6-160 as measured on my MFJ 259B antenna analyzer. I have tested it with my IC-703 and IC-746Pro. With the 703 I made contacts on 20M no tuning to Ohio, Pennsylvania, San Diego using 10 watts. With the 746Pro I tested with and without the tuner. I was able to transmit on all bands with no tuner but had reduced power (60 to 70 watts) on some bands but all bands had full 100 watt power using only the internal radio tuner. So far using the 746Pro I have made contacts on 40M with several stations in Texas from Lubbock to Corpus Christi, 17M to Spokane WA, Maritime Mobile near LaPaz Mexico, 20M to Grand Junction Colorado all from my location north of Dallas TX. I am also able to tune my MARS frequencies out of the HAM bands at full power. I had several opportunities to contact the company with technical question, the services was OUTSTANDING. This will be my primary Field Day and Radio in the Park antenna. Great performing antenna that will fit into a carry bag about 40” in length.

An antenna design that works! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
So many times I have found myself saying that if you have to use a tuner or unun/balun, then you've got an antenna that isn't designed very well. This antenna is not one of those that bleads off the power in the tuner or resonates heat from a balun/unun. It is an antenna that's designed to work! No hidden components, just excellent antenna design work. After unpacking it this morning, I had a few state-side QSO's first on 6 through 20 meters. The operators gave me the same signal report as I was receiving them at. I tuned around till I found some DX on 20 meters and had an arm-chair conversation. Pretty cool! When pretty much all I could have with my G5RV was state-side QSOs. Although I don't like the fact that tuners just hide the SWR, I do appreciate the fact that they keep power from being reflected back into my rig, so I use my trusted LDG Tuner with my FT-897D. I put the rig onto 40 meters and made a contact a couple of states (850 miles) away. I'm sure it'll work fine on 80 meters, although I agree with the manufacturer that signals won't be as strong on 160 meters. I did, however, find I could tune the antenna very quickly with my LDG Tuner on 160 meters. I also liked the introductory price! Keep up the good work Alpha Antenna!
