Review Summary For : Viewstar VS 1500A tuner
Reviews: 3MSRP: unknown
Description:
This robust tuner was made in Canada in the early 1980s for just a year or two from what history I have gathered from a few sources. Beautifully constructed with heavy duty parts and a roller inductor done the right way. Has balun and uses the SPC circuitry described by DeMaw in 1983 QST which was the standard in the Antenna Handbook for several years. Has 2 coax outputs, one for longwire and one for twin lead. The tuner can be bypassed if antennas are well tuned already. Easily takes more than 1500 watts. Simple meter is accurate on FWD and REF power (no cross needle that some prefer) and has 300 and 3000 watt scales. This is the best heavy duty tuner in a small box I have ever seen. Big capacitors and great roller inductor design. This is a rare tuner! I doubt you will find one unless you search long and hard. The original Viewstar company was owned by the present owner of PALSTAR! That should tell you something!

Got my second Viewstar 1500A at Dayton and it is mint also. The inside continues to show the excellent quality of construction, soldering and parts, etc. If you can find one of these I think you will find it does the work of a true 1500 watt tuner and with good, straightforward looks. Both of mine were built in early 1984, January and March. Wud like to hear from others who own and enjoy this tuner and if you have any viewpoints on shortcomings.
