Update : Works great for Skywire Loops too! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This is an update. I took down my OCF dipole and put up an 80 meter (280 foot) piece of 12 gauge wire in the trees around the back yard. I fed this Skywire loop with 600 ohm ladder line from trueladderline.com. I moved the balun down from the trees to just outside the entrance point to the shack at the grounding bus. So I have 25 feet of RG-213 Coax running from the rig to this balun, and 66 feet of ladder line up to the wire about 50+ feet in the air, corner fed. It works great. Better than the OCF dipole. Using JT65 I can see what my true signal reports are from all over the world. I spoke with the owner of balun designs and he said this balun would work fine with a horizontal loop unless I was near a building and wanting to run more than 700 watts. If that was the case then he suggested their ultimate balun instead. It doesn’t matter which antenna end you connect to which end of the balun as it does with the OCF dipole, I tried both. Good luck. 73s
