Brings sigs to your RX Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I use a FD4 since 1986. I check it regularly but that’s all I do for maintenance.
It is basically a windom with a 6:1 balun at the feeding point.
It is up 10 m in a somewhat inverted V shape. So on 80m it needs some help from a tuner.
On 40m, 20m and 10m it works nicely, as one would expect for this type of antenna.
Since it is resonant on multiple bands the signal level at the receiver is high. This can overload the receiver, especially on 40 m here in Europe, with a lot of broadcast stations.

It is still available from www.hofi.de They continue the Fritzel antenna business.

Usual disclaimers apply.

Buy one if you can find one Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have owned this my Fritzel for 3 years. It has worked great for me. The antenna is made very nicely. Mr. Fritzel has passed away and from what I understand the antenna is no longer made. When I purchaced mine from HRO, I knew they had it in stock for a while, because mine said "Made In West Germany"!! If I could find another one, I would buy it pronto. 73, N5XQ

VERY GOOD RESONANT ANTENNA FOR ALL HF BANDS EXCEPT 15 Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I HAVE BEEN RUNNING THIS ANTENNA EXCLUSIVELY FOR 3 YEARS WITH OUT ANY TROUBLE. I HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE RATHER USER FRIENDLY FOR MOST HAMS, YOU DO NOT NEED A TUNER EXCEPT MAYBE ON 15 METERS IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE A LARGE AMPLIFIER. SOME OF MY FRIENDS HAVE BEEN FINDING IT DIFFICULT TO LOCATE THEM, IF SOME ONE KNOWS OF A NEW DISTRIBUTOR, WRITE A FOLLOWUP.

Great HF Antenna Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have owned and used one for about 2 years.Never had one min of trouble with it.I've had mine at 60 feet high and at 40 ft. It seems to work best at the lower level. Its made very heavy duty and should stay up for a long time. To bad that it went out of production or thats what I've been told. The only negative feedback is that it was not made for the 15 meter band.(you can work 15 with low power) This is the best HF antenna for the money because you don't have to buy a tuner to work all bands
