Very well done Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This review is for the latest version of PROLOG V6. After oping other free online logging programs and never really being happy... I deceided to purchase PROLOG, from the infromation I received reading the EHAM's PRODUCT REVIEWS. If you want to learn about anything in ham radio, then first check it out on EHAM, before you buy it.

PROLOG is a very very well done logging program. It has everything that you will need to log, track, comfirm, locate, record award info, send and receive QSLs and much more. The in program help is fantastic, with its popup notices, help windows and examples, you can't go wrong. Everything is very well documented in print and on the programs help and search menus.

There online email help is also 2nd to none. I wanted to know something about the new VISTA operating system, which was on a new laptop, that I had purchased for this program. So I emailed PROLOG with a question late on a Saturday and received the correct answer to fix my VISTA problem... on Sunday the following day.

Yes... PROLOG cost about $60.00 + shipping and any extras that you choose, but you get what you pay for. I wanted to spend my limited hobby time operating DX... not trying to figure out how to down load and run a free program.

Good things from ProLog 2K Time Owned: more than 12 months.
When you operate out of a small island, reliability and support take on big meaning. Prolog and Ed have fulfilled both needs. The program is user friendly, packed with good features and works. On the occasions when I have wanted to swap ideas or get additional data from Ed the response has always been quick and complete. Roll all of this in to a program that is at ease with Reg-chew logging as it is with contest logging and you have ProLog. In the recent ARRL SSB phone contest I spent 127 continuous minutes in one sitting handing out contacts to 218 operators. This with the dupe list utility turned on....pretty good stuff. I enjoy ProLog and glad that I made this choice.

OUTSTANDING! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
When I started in Radio in 1998, Prolog was reccomended to me as a good logging program. So I have grown ( from the dos version ) and seen the evolution ( version 6.23 ) with this for the last 10 years. Never say there is no room for imporvement. Every upgrade I ever did I was totally suprised and very pleased. This program does it "ALL"!
I am not going to kid anyone here and say that in 5 minutes you are a master of this program. This logger does a lot of different things and it takes a little while to get the grasp of things. Well worth the time learning it though. If you have played with this before then the curve is a less. Prolog continues to do it the same way so the only thing to learn is the new features. I can't say enough about the tech support I have recieved over the years. A 10+ as far as I am concerned. Phone calls are returned the same day as well as emails concerning questions.
A little about features. The logging page itself is laid out very well. Nice and easy to see what is going on without being cluttered. If you are new to Dxing the qsl route manager is the way to go. I found it to be very accurate and when I started using it, my qsl return rate went up. As far as awards goes, this program tracks them all. If you are accurate logging contacts the program does the rest letting you know exactly where you stand.
In closing, if your looking for a powerful logging program that does it all, and has the tech support to back it up, look no futher than v6.23. I have not been disappointed for the last 10 years and don't expect to be during the next 10 years. Great Job again Ed!

The Best In Its Class! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I am new to the HF frequencies and needed a way to track my contacts. I first tried using an excel sheet to accomplish my goal. This turned out to be a very cumbersome method. Next I looked around the internet and found many options. I even tried a trial version from another company and found it too convoluted to be useful. I was directed to the ProLog 2K by a ham in the south. I looked at the web site but thought this program would be too complex for my basic needs. I called the company and talked with Ed. On a side note, Ed was very, very helpful with my questions. After this conversation, I purchased the program. The program is an excellent product. I also purchased the database ($20) which makes data entry a breeze. For those that wish to link their computer to their radio will find a wonderful additional to contacts made.
I rate this program a 5 for the following reasons; quality, ease of use because of its short learning curve, functionality, product support, available add-ons, good communications with their customers and reasonable price. For me, and likely you, this is the “gold standard” in logging software.

Everything You Need In The Shack Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I am VA3ZB, Bruce In Sault, Ontario Canada. I have used this program and the various new versions for over 5 years and I am entirely satisfied. ProLog does almost everything you need even if you do not chase DX. The main thing is it perfectly logs all your QSOs. Why in the world are you using a paper log. It is almost impossible to find anything in a paper log and if a mistake is made in the call or the date, checkig all the possibilities becomes almost impossible. ProLog solves all of that for you as with a few key strokes you can check all similar calls and dates.

If you chase DX then this is the dream machine. It will track most of the major awards automatically for you. Of course you can record the cards as they go out and the ones that come in. Then you can create various types of statistics to tell you exactly what you need to know. For example, I can generate a list of all contacts that have not as yet provided a QSL card and thus I can work on say sending cards direct rather than through the bureau. ProLog will keep track of all these steps with no trouble.

Even if you do not chase DX, ProLog has many extreemly useful features. It will tell you the bearing to your signal and if you wish it will automatically move your rotor for you. I just love the fact the ProLog gives me rig control. It will follow the rig from the logging form, or I can change the frequency, mode or other parameters from the program and the rig will obey what I type in.

The logger form automatically gives me complete data on the QSO operator and fills in the logging form. No looking up QRZ at all. Everything is there in a flash. You can even use the OP's name befor he says it. If you want you can get his street adress, E-mail address and the class of ticked with the expiration date. One click will get you a mailing label.

There is also a DX window based on an internet connection to DX Summit. However, the majic with this is that when you click on the listing, you automatically get all the dx information you meed. Another click will tune your rig to the listed frequency and put the data in the logging form. So as soon as a listing occurs, you can be on the frequency and calling the DX without any hunting, tuning or delay. This is just a fantastic feature that you cannot beat.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. The unique colour coding tells you at a glance what you have worked and what you have not, or is you need a QSL card etc. However, please do not assume that the program is too difficult to learn. I have not read the manual and yet for what I want I am fully functional. You only need to read the basic material to get started. If you have any familarity with computers you will have no difficulty getting along with this program. Should you need help, just drag the question mark icon to the item you want that the data will be shown. So there is no need to search long lists of related help pages to find the right thing.

I typically have a problem making my old files available to the a new version of the program. My difficulty is that I am not experienced in searching the bowels of a computer for specific files. However I called for help by telephone and except for my few pushes of the wrong button, the ProLog people quickly solved the problem and had me up and running in the same day that I received the disc.

In short, if you intend to keep any log at all then give this one your serious consideration. I do feel that if a fellow ham anywhere in the world asks for confirmation, part of our duty in the hobby is to provide an accurate response. ProLog will more than do that-- it will make your ham experience a breeze. Now if they could just find a way to increase the flux, then we would all be in our glory.

Thank you. Bruce VA3ZB

I have been using ProLog for over 5 years and I am totally satisfied with it. Not only does it log your contacts but it also tracks the award status for all major awards. All you have to do is type in the call and it provides detailed data in the logging form-- name QTH etc. All QSO's can be searched and edited and mailing lables can be printed out if desired. There are several screens for listing contacts, which will let you quickly see what you have worked and on what bands, or what QSL's you have or have not received. Why would you stay with tracking old paper logs when this takes out all the hastle.

This is only the tip of the iceberg. I just love the fact that ProLog gives me rig control, so that frequency and mode are automatically inserted and it follows as the rig is tuned.DX Summit spots are provided in a window which will tune the rig to that spot with just one click. With the alarm feature you can be on the spot in seconds from the time that it first appears.

And this is only a small part of what ProLog can do. For example it can route QSL's via managers and it can automatically move your rotor to the correct bearing. The latest version allows for electronic QSL's as well as the standard snail mail.

ProLog is also easy to use. You do not need to read the manual to get into it quickly. However, if you need help it is readily available by just moving a question mark icon to the feature you are curious about. A small amount of reading on some key topics is all you need.

Once your QSL cards arrive it is very simple to search them in the records and to indicate that they been received or submitted for an award.

I did have some difficulty transferring my old files to the new version, but this was manily due to my lack of computer experience with locating and copying files. However, I did get immediate techenical assistance by telephone which quickly resloved the problem and got me going on the same day that I received the softwear.

In short ProLog is a tremendous program that will do everything you need and more.

Thank you. Bruce J. Lenton VA3ZB

Saying outstanding is an understatement Time Owned: more than 12 months.
First, I've used Prolog2K for several years and bought it after researching other logging programs. I talked to a number of hams who were about evenly divided between their use of Prolog2K and other logging programs. A few of the hams were dedicated contesters but most were just like me - looking for a good 'ragchew' and maybe earn an award to hang on the wall. Several of my ham friends made the same comment about Prolog2K:"You won't find a more complete package for logging". I took their advice and bought one of Ed's earlier versions and could not have been happier. It exceeded all my expectations.
I recently upgraded to the latest version and added the callsign database and IOTA options. Through my own ignorance I ran into a bit of a problem transfering a file. I sent Ed an email, and darn if he didn't call me at home in the evening just to ensure that I was taking the correct action! Ed even called later to double check that my complete log was, in fact, transferred and that all was OK. What can you say about service like that? I just can't imagine anyone giving better service.
As to the program- yes, it was great to begin with, and the new version is even better. It will take a bit longer to become familiar with all the new bells and whistles but it will be just like Christmas morning as I find each new feature.
Thanks, Ed

Better than ever ! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I just obtained the newest version of Prolog and have it installed. I was able to retain the privious version and that was good as I needed to apply some new prefixes that had not been used in the previous versions. IE: Montenegro, Swains and the Cook Islands. The latest version is just great, lots of new features. Along with the new version I started a new logbook for a previously held call sign. With help from the ARRL that went smoothly. N4PJ kindly offered to type in some 2500 qso s that were made 10 years ago and more. I was hoping for some matches and I did get about a 3% match on the 2500 qso s. Of that 3% though, I was unable to get any new qsl s that I did not have a paper qsl from already and credited to my DXCC. Oh well. But, Prolog handled the new logbook perfectly and the Prolog experience is as good as it gets !

Wonderful Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I just got off the phone with Ed at Prolog and feel compelled to write about my excellent experience. I doubt if you will find many people more computer challenged than me. I had been using a program that had been sold and lost support. To say the least, I was uneasy about continuing to use it; consequently, I decided to purchase Prolog after reading all the excellent reviews. It came as no surprise to me that I encountered problems trying to import my logs from the other program and I sent a couple of desperate e-mails to him on Sunday. Ed called me promptly at 7:00 AM (his time) Monday and spent a great deal of time on the phone walking me through the importation process and explaining the many fine features of the program. I am sure it is a program I will stick with for a many years. Kudos to Ed and Prolog!

I have found ProLog2K to be .. OUTSTANDING ! Time Owned: more than 12 months.

I have been a ProLog2K user for about 2 years now, and have found it to be powerful, with marvelous abilities. I am very pleased with its use, versatility and power.

Before I chose to purchase ProLog2K I had many questions about which program to choose, as there are several good programs on the market. Therefore before I bought ProLog2K, I did a lot of research including eHam reviews. The final confirmation came from a good friend who had used ProLog2K for many years. His comment to me was, “it was excellent and he would never consider anything else”. So I bought it, and have been more than satisfied and felt I owed it to others who look at reviews on eHam, to add mine after these 2 years of use.

I have found ProLog2K to a good deal like Ham Radio, fairly easy to start with and enjoy, yet with tremendous depth as you dig deeper and learn more. I started with ver. 5.13 about 2 years ago and last month upgraded to ver. 5.18. The added upgraded features just continue to add to the versatility and usefulness of ProLog2K..

My operating consists primarily of CW/ Digital operations, Contesting, DXing and
Award chasing. ProLog2K is terrific for my uses. For contesting I use WriteLog and transfer the contest files into ProLog2K easily. For general digital operating I use MixW2 and it links directly with ProLog2K so that when you log a contact in MixW .. it automatically is logged into ProLog2K at the same time. The Award tracking is broad and excellent. I also upload all QSO’s to LoTW and the ease of linking ProLog2K with LoTW makes award tracking a snap. Easy and Quick. The program also offers rig control and many, many other features. The ProLog website provides good screen shots and information.

The accolades others have written I have found to be true, and though I have not had a problem, when I did have a question, the response from Ed, either via e-mail or on the phone, was prompt, clear and provided the answers I needed. Ed’s customer service is excellent as is his product.

I highly recommend this excellent product!

Best yet! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Over the past ten years I've purchased and used several different logging programs. Without a doubt ProLog2K is the most versatile of any I've ever used. I've had it for only a month, but for me it's a definite keeper.

ProLog2K's cost is very reasonable, and the user support from its author is outstanding. Most email questions are answered in a matter of a few hours, often with several suggestions for additional ways of solving problems or making better use of its capabilities.

I'm especially impressed by the ProLog2K's ADIF import/export capability; its "on-screen" beam steering/heading/range functions; the Call Master data tables; "Tagging" capabilities; the ability to control my Elecraft K2's I/O port; and its ability to build a large number of independent logs.

The QST "Short Takes" article review of ProLog 2K (August, 2005, p. 45) is what triggered my interest in purchasing it. Having done so, I've never looked back, and am very happy with it.
