Good logger, but could use some work Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have used Prolog2K for several years now and I think it is one of the best loggers out there for award tracking and I will not repeat the accolades others have given it - They are all true. Ed is a great guy and I have never had any support problems that were not resolved with the exception of an intermittent bug that makes Prolog2K crash under XP Pro that was never completely resolved.

I do feel there are several deficiencies with Prolog2K, that if resolved could make it a solid 5.

My biggest complaint with Prolog2K is that it does not have the basic Windows program controls that other Windows programs have, such as being able to cut and paste text from call sign field to the clipboard.

I also believe that the program is a little over priced for the feature set compared to other loggers that are more graphical oriented and have lots of neat features such as propagation maps, grayline, great circle maps, etc for less cost. As others have noted, the upgrade policy which, essentially makes you purchase the program again, is a little to "aggressive" for me. Especially when upgrades come out so infrequently and they have just a few new features included.

The other thing that I believe is deficient is that there is no real-time page display of your QSOs. I really like being able to look at my previous QSOs without having to open a new window that freezes the log entry window just to see my previous QSOs.

Absolutely the BEST Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have been a ham since 1954 and have tried them all. Prolog2K is absolutely the best of all the software logging programs, and, I have just about tried them all. It does more, quicker and gives me more information that I could ever use. Any questions or problems are resolved cheerfully and immediately. My highest kudos to Prolog2K

Excellent Time Owned: more than 12 months.
My experience with Prolog has been excellent,. Why? Simple yet a complex logging program. Simple to learn and operate but the software is powerfull. I have an Orion rig and have rig control. It auto sets your frequency, mode, time and other info on the logging form for most rigs.
Just too many features to comment on.

Support is great. If you do need help Ed will be there. Sort of like Ten Tec support, Great. It sells for a fair price and you can have the current data base of the master callbook each month for a small fee if you want it. I have had the software for one year and would recommend it to any ham looking for a good solid log program. I have 9500 qso on my program, Ed even had my other log file which was a Microsoft file converted to the Prolog file.

Quality Logging SW Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have been using Prolog2K several years. It has most all of the logging features that I need, and a good award & contact indexing capability. Prolog allows you to keep up to 36 different log books, and then merge, extract, and reconfigure the logs in many ways. Prolog supports LOTW and is especially well setup for chasing awards. Rig control is standard for all major brands, rotors, and packet interfaces. Prolog interfaces to MixW and Digipan for logging digital modes.

There are always improvements that can be made, and the Prolog team is adding new features every year. Support has been consistently excellent, but rarely needed since this logger just works.

Fantastic Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have used prolog since the days of DOS, and can say with great confidence that Prolog keeps getting better, and to boot Ed has always been fair when I've decided to upgrade . As others have said the learning curve maybe intimidating, but what you get out of the package depends upon what you put into it. Even after using it for several years, I still have not mastered every single facet of this great package, simply because there is some features I do not use. Also as others have said this is not contest logging software, this is logbook, station automation, and tracking software. The flexibility built into the product it makes it well worth the investment and as for the recent detractions, telnet, that is taken care in the lastest version.
All around a great product.

Excellent support for an excellent program! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have been using the Prolog/Prolog2k product since 1999 and only have praise for the support and features of this versatile software package. This logger takes a bit of time to become familiar with and you must READ the manual! But, the support from Ed is outstanding. He is only an e-mail or phone call away and always responds quickly. I have logged over 7000 contacts with this program, generated 100's of labels, tracked numerous awards and have kept multiple logbooks. This isn't a contest logger, but it does what it is supposed to and has more features than any other program I have used. Get it, read the manual, read the manual again and enjoy it!

expensive add ons to fully implement all features Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Straight from Ed at tech support, if you wish to use the dx monitor and spot features, you need to buy DXTelnet interface from Gabriella and Fabrizio for about $40. This interface is the only way Prolog will talk to any telnet service. Pretty unusual considering that access to telnets are free and most logging programs will readably access most of them for free, Logic, AC log, logger32, Logpa, Mixw, DX labs, etc come to mind.. Seems like a no brainer to simply allow Prolog to specify a path to any telnet service, didn’t seem like a problem for most programs out there.

Next, the only way to use callbook lookups is to buy the relevant CD. Prolog cannot go to the internet to access the online callbooks available there. The info available on line for free would include, QRZ and most foreign callbooks. So…. You can buy the Buckmaster CD for $50 for 6 months of updates, which means you get to pay $100 a year to stay current. Again, most programs you can simply specify the inter net path and you’re in business.

Lets see now, Prolog is $50, DXtelnet interface is $40, Buckmaster CD is $100, for a grand total of $190 to use all the features of Prolog, a pretty pricey package. These price issues really cripple an otherwise outstanding program.

Remember, I’m not pulling this outta the hat, but talked to Tech support concerning these matters.

If anyone out there has a walk around for these issues, please let me know

SOLID STABLE PRODUCT Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I tried more than a half dozen different products before choosing PROLOG as my main logging package. Several of the other products, including ones highly rated on eHam, were not stable on my platform (Athlon processor, Windows 98se). I had several log file losses, and had one package that would routinely crash my machine.

No such problems with PROLOG. The package runs like it is on rails. I have more than 1500 QSOs logged, and it doesn't blink. The product has excellent flexibility on searches and integrates well with the ADIF files from contesting software. Tag fields and General Award Fields provide allow me to customize it and track QSOs for more arcane awards. The multiple logbook capabilities are well implemented, and permit seamless logbook merging when needed. Highly recommended.

Excellent Product! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have looked at and tried about every logging program that you can get - freeware or trialware - and this is about the best all round logging program out there in my opinion. I use MixW extensively and the integration with that program is perfect! The features of ProLog2K are far to many to mention, but they are all valuable to the hardcore DX operator or casual digital enthusiast. Ed is by far the best in personalized support and attention to the needs of his customer. You just can't go wrong with Prolog2K or Ed they are both the best in the business.

EXCELLENT PROGRAM Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Hello All, I have to give this program great praises.(5) I must admit it's probably not for the contester looking for certain features, but for a simple logging program and for tracking awards, this thing is just what your looking for and MORE. Tracking and chasing DX is a snap with the DX Spot window in which you can configure with packet clusters or DXTelnet. It will let you know right away if you need the spotted DX entity, or if you already worked it or not on the current band & mode. It also supports rig control for most popular rigs out there. What a great feature that is. Automatically enters the frequency and mode into the logging window for you. And from the DX Spot Window with rig control enabled, with the stroke of a key and the quick click of the mouse, your radio is taken to that frequency and mode, plus the callsign is put into the call field of the logging window ready for callsign lookup via the many supported callbook programs of your choice. I find this such an easy program to use. I've only had it a couple months and am still learning more about this feature packed program. The big plus for me is the support behind the program. Either a phone call or an email gets you fast answered questions, even if you missed it in the vast onboard help files. That comment comes through expierence. Ed has done a great job with this program and backs it 100% in great tech support. There is so much more to this program, but I can't type it all here. I HIGHLY recommend Prolog2K. You can configure the program to your style of use, and even setup other logbooks to keep seperate from the main logbook, etc... contest contacts then merge them later if you wish. This is a powerful program!! Ed needs to setup a demo version so you can get a taste of this program which you will just love!! Works with no glitches what so ever. No problems here. All I had were operational questions, and got fast answers! Best of luck in your choices! This one is a WINNER!! 73's, Jerry - KO9LR
