I'm sticking with them Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I wish they could solve their timeliness issues but I understand it's tough to keep a print magazine going these days. But I'm sticking with them as I am with QST, QEX, and RSGB's RadCom. Our hobby needs these publications.

Stay away! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
After almost 5 yaers, I am officially done with CQ magazine as of August of this year. It was a fun 5 year ride with a few missed issues and some very late ones, but I finally asked myself the question….was it worth it to me anymore?

I may it miss from time to time, but I guess I’ll have to satisfy my leisurely reading time with just QST.

Kind of sad about it, but all good things come to end I guess and for me the squeeze was just not worth the juice anymore.

Tried my hardest to justify subbing, but just couldn't bring myself to send them $43 bucks anymore. The late/missing issues shanagins was just getting to be too much to bear for that price.

Crazy to think about a business functioning like they do....They literally forced me to quit giving them money...

Do yourself a favor and stay away.

CQ Magazine Experiences Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I began reading CQ in the 1950's before I even knew that QST existed. (I was doing it all alone without an Elmer or mentor). Ahhh...the old days of sneaking it into high-school study hall after violating rules by sneaking off campus and buying it at a newsstand. Great articles by Wayne Green on Danny Weil and the Yasme. An adventure story...and great writers such as Don Stoner whose project lead to the first Oscar.

Years later, they ran the original definitive article on gray-line DX'ing by using a globe with paper cutouts.

Great writing.

Sorry to see the publication lateness. Must be a cash-flow problem. They don't run any MFJ ads, but QST looks like an MFJ catalog.

Good Old Days re-do Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I recently subscribed to the electronic edition. It was partly from being stale and bored because of being in a long Covid19 lockdown ( out of caution.) I also, have become somewhat disenchanted with QST. I used to save QST issues for re-reading. Now new issues hit the trash can after a cursory scan. I still subscribe out of loyalty to the ARRL and it's support of ham radio.

The first CQ electronic edition arrived and it was like seeing an old friend after a many year absence. The content articles were relevant to my interests. Yay !

So, a taste of nostalgia and nice content have made me a happy boy.

I tried again! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I enjoy the airticles in CQ. I was a loyal subscriber for 40+ years until delivery of printed issue got so bad a few years ago. Decided to give it another try. Still the same. Got the monthly email "CQ Newsroom Update" today highlighting the December and January issues of CQ. I'm still waiting on my November issue. They have a big problem in management getting this pub out to its customers. So sad...it use to be timely! Phil, K4MPE

A Bit Lacking Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I subscribe to it. It usually comes about a month late. Sometimes two. Sometimes three. I like most of the articles, but if you want up to date info, this periodical isn't for you. I keep it for mostly "the good old days" sake.

Goodby! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Since my last review in Nov.'17, nothing has improved. CQ is still 2 months late, and my renewal notice has the new price of $42.95 for a year of 13 issues surely to arrive late and be bereft of up to date monthly info and current advertising. (Change the Summary for CQ Magazine at the top of the page from $27.95)
I have cut the cord and will no longer continue with the magazine after 25 years of enjoyable and somewhat up to date reading. The last 4 years have been awful, and the new price is insulting. It's a shame to lose what CQ was.

Contester's Magazine Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I tried the digital version of CQ due to their failure to deliver the print edition on time. I do not care for the Zinio-Reader and counted "29"Pages of contest results or contest rules. If you like contests this is for you...Otherwise not much to offer, with even fewer advertisements of the latest ham gear.

Did not receive my March issue...April issue arrived on May 3rd, with stale news. Also noticed, there were very few if any advertisements from major manufacturers. They evidently can't publish on time as in the past, smaller content and 1/3 of publication was just page after page of contest results. Looks like they're going to close the door shortly, based on lack of advertisers. Will not renew my subscription.

Usually receive mailings 6 to 8 weeks late! Complained to CQ when I received my renewal notice and they extended my subscription one month. Still waiting for my March issue on April 15th. Articles are good. I don't like digital magazines...enjoy time away from the computer screen. Find myself looking online for up to date Ham info. If you need timely DX, Propagation, Contest, Product and Ham Fest news...CQ magazine is not for you.

Digital version is even better Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I was not a subscriber to CQ, and would generally pick up a copy when I was at HRO if something looked interesting. Recently I subscribed to the digital version. The quality is excellent. It uses the Zinio platform.

You can select an article - then switch to "text" format. Its perfect for reading on a laptop. I use a Macbook. I can zoom the text size using + (just like a normal web page) and scroll using the trackpad. To skip to the next article you just use the left/right arrow keys. You don't even need to see the ads if you don't want to.

Its so much better than navigating the Digital version of QST. Its not even close. Digital QST is a dumpster fire.

Good magazine- Bad times Time Owned: more than 12 months.
CQ has been a Good magazine for several decades for contester and the like. I think, What CQ is going thru- unable to publish and circulate on time-is widely experienced by several others, due to digital age.The support for prints are going down along with revenue. It's only would get worse.
