Good Sounding Mic! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Hello all,

I have had two of these microphones on duty at WG7X for about 13 years. I use one on the TS-711S 2-meter rig, and the other on my TS940S/AT.

I constantly get unsolicited compliments on the fine quality of my audio. I credit the microphone, and the rig.

I did have to place some small bypass capacitors on the PTT and UP/DOWN lines going into the rig. RF was getting on these lines and getting into the AF amplifer chain. This was distorting the audio something awful. I will also caution users to NOT try to use the built-in mic pre-amp for the same reason. It is sensetive to RF.

All in all, a good microphone.

As soon as you changed the mic element, you changed the mic! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
By changing the mic element, you changed the mic altogether. Sure, you have
some features like push to talk and lock on the base, freq up/down but the
element itself has changed, thus, so goes the mic. The original MC60 is
a good mic, the Heil elements make it a better mic.

Nice Microphone with HC-4 Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Dears, I installed a Heil Element HC-4, changing the dinamic element. Fantastic !!! Great and punch transmition, ideal for DX and Pile-ups. If you wants more details, feel free to contact me.

I'll keep this one... Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Tried other Kenwoods, Heils, Shures and many others. Ended up with this one.
I removed the base and I have it on a boom with a footswitch. Yes, you can do just that with this one. Need help with that? Just e-mail.
Not much to say. Made my rig sound like I wanted to. Maybe not a "pure" contest mike. Maybe a little on the ssb hi-fi side, but that's the audio I like.
If you're a contester and like running a bit of processor on your audio then try the Heil. You can also add some processor and narrow this one and it's almost the same.
If you want a versatile microphone that sounds *really* good on ssb and also does a great job on fm, then the MC-60A is the right choice for you (specially if you are a 850 or 870 owner).
This one will never leave my shack.
73s.
