An interesting book for new or long time amateurs Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This is an excellent book. I would advise all new amateurs to get one in addition to their ARRL theory books. Bob has wonderful explanations of many subjects from basic station set up to electronics to operating to antennas. I've been licensed since the 70's but I really enjoyed reading this book. It is a great investment.

Companion Resource Book Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Good Companion book for beginning licensed Amateur Radio operators. Companion Book to Orr and ARRL Books. Does need editing and revising. Many illustrations need updating and the sentence structure and wording throughout needs an editor. Overdue for an revised and edited 3rd Edition.

Great Book for New Amateurs Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This handbook by Bob Heil is a great book. It covers a lot if not all of the basics
for a beginning amateur radio operator. But, the seasoned amateur will also find
some things of interest and may get a few new ideas. The coverage of basic
construction techniques, homebrew ideas, and trouble shooting are excellent.
Also, all of Bob's comments and information on antennas should not be
overlooked. The beginning amateur will get the "basics" from reading this book
and will not be overwhelmed by a format similar to the ARRL Handbook.
