OK psu, Awful fan, but easy to sort out Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
My first MP304 was DOA due to faulty bi-metal fan thermostat.
My replacement PSU was fine, except the fan is terribly noisy. I can't hear may radio with it running, and it cuts in intermittently even when idling. Why? there is no convection cooling- the PSU relies totally on forced vent from the fan.

The cure is simple. I wired four 1/4Watt 15 Ohm resistors in series to get 60 Ohm/ 1 Watt, then wire these across the fan thermostat. The fan now runs continuously at a whisper, and only ever kicks in to high speed when under extended periods of full load. This is much kinder to the PSU, as it is no longer being repeatedly thermally cycled hot/cold etc. A simple mod costing less than £1, and keeping the original design of bi-metal thermostat in place to switch to full speed if/when required.

Good Power Supply For The Price Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
An excellent power supply that does not produce any noise on the HF bands.

My only moan was the internal fan that is very loud especially if the supply is on your desk.

I purchased a guaranteed silent fan and replaced the original in 10 minutes. Now the supply is perfectly quiet and a joy to have.

12 Volt 25-30 Amp PSU Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This is a pretty good Power supply, 25 amp continuous for 15 minutes and 30 amp max, I have no trouble when using it with my Icom IC9100, even on 100 watts rf out on FM it doesn't groan or vibrate etc, just sits there and hacks it, the only thing i'm not keen on is the cooling fan, it's at the back and not very noisy, it comes on after about 10 minutes of use regardless of what you do and it never goes off any more until you turn the unit off, it's not bad, I just don't like fans, it has a Volt and Amp meter on with a rocker switch to change from one to the other, an on/off switch, cigar lighter socket and some low current power connectors as well, fuse at the front, it's fairly small and heavy, but quite long, anyway I am happy with it, I would recommend it...Fred in England g4vvq.
