Good technical articles. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Well, I can't argue with the other reviewers in that Wayne Green sure is opinionated. Yes, he goes off on an occassional tangent too. I like the magazine because of it's technical content. The rest is merely entertainment and treated as such, fluff. I have found many amateurs to be highly opinionated, so why not Wayne too? However, Wayne Green does get the Gov. George Wallace award for the ability to "see the light" and adapt his mindset with changing times. At 78 years old. this is something I have NOT found in too many people in general, much less amateurs. As long as the features and articles stay technically sound, he got my buck. 73.

Very good magazine Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I subscribed to 73 for years. I enjoyed the lack of contest coverage and crap that littered the pages of QST and CQ. I also subscribed to WorldRadio for several years (great mag). Wayne is, well, Wayne. Big deal. Seems to me that the negative reviews are just difficulties with thinking outside the envelope. The mag is not for everyone. I especially enjoyed the projects and product reviews, and yes Wayne's irreverant editorials.

More interesting than QST Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Seems to me that the negative comments on this magazine are more to do with the reviewers disagreement with the point of view of the publisher than with the ham radio content.

Wayne does ramble on a bit and there is probably (make that definitely) far more "editorial" than there should be. That said however, his musings are often an interesting diversion (however far-fetched they may seem). The ham content of the magazine is pretty good in my opinion.

When I make a trip to the ham store, I pick up a copy of CQ, Monitoring Times and 73. I do not buy Worldradio.

Waste of Time Time Owned: N.A.
Another reviewer said that Wayne Green's attitude is, "This is my magazine, and I will write about what interests me." Not much of what he has to say interests me. I discontinued reading his drivel long ago.......too much ego, not enough substance. World Radio is the better bet, and is absent the arrogance of Wayne Green, expounding upon how he's made millions and is a second "Al Gore", by inventing nearly everything you can think of.

Bird Cage Liner Time Owned: N.A.
73 Amateur Radio Today deserves an honored place in everyone's parakeet cage. An absolute waste of paper and ink. Subscribe to World Radio instead.

great for Wayne's views Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I used to subscribe to 73s, but had to discontinue for economic reasons. This is an interesting magazine, in that it has no contest coverage, no awards coverage, and limited DX coverage. It does cover projects, and general interest stories. It is worth the price just to read Wayne Green's editorials, especially if you are a libertarian like myself. Wayne does get a little nutty at times, though. I like his attitude "This is my magazine, and I will write about what interests me." Rush Limbaugh could not have said it better.
