Wayne is a disgrace! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Wayne Green's 73 mag was for the most part..crap. But where Wayne really out did himself was in his computer mag he produced. His computer mag contained pure money making SLEEEZZZZZZZ.

Wayne is a hoot! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've been reading Wayne Green's editorials in his 73 magazine for over 32 years and think they are great! Wayne has been ranting about the ARRL for as long as I have been reading 73. I don't always agree with Wayne but he makes you stop and think. He just wants to make you think for yourself and not act like a bunch of cattle following the head of the line off to the slaughterhouse. He has some good projects you can put together without needing a BSEE to do it!He also has some great articles as well but his editorials is what I buy 73 for. You go, Wayne!

If you think is mag is a rag then you should see crap @ his www Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
http://www.waynegreen.com/wayne/ is his website and from the looks of it he is a scam artist. What got me ticked off was his "promotional ad" for his magazine, a fellow ham friend of mine KD5RHF emaild me an image of an ad he recieved promising you could learn morse code in 1 hour with "Wayne's sneaky sceret blitz system"
he also goes on to say "How about the secret of how you can pass the dumb five words per minute code test with less than an hour of work?" he also bashes the AARL, saying "I agree, There is no rational excuse for maintaning the code barrier, but the AARL, being our only national ham orginization, pulls a lot of weight, and they're totally dedicated to making sure the we keep our ham bands as free as possible of newcomers by maintaning tha barrier." If he only new the the FCC is required to keep the Morse Code requirement because of an international treaty.. but, NO he has to sling mud at the AARL. the only ham org committed to us hams. for more info on Wayne Greens blasphemy, and the Ad my friend sent me, see http://www.kd5qln.com/default.asp?s=wg for more info.

Not in VK anymore...pity Time Owned: N.A.
It was a sad day when my newsagent said that the magazine was unavailable in VK anymore...
I realy liked the content and the editorials were wonderful.
Since I can't buy it anymore I emailed Wayne.
He suggested I make a bioelectrifyer, hook it up to my nipples, drink some silver colloid solution and load myself up on 40 and we'll talk via mental telepathy (latest ham mode)...works for me...
Cheers!

Holding its own! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I feel that, 73 'stacks up' well against other current amateur radio periodicals! - The relative *lack* of club/contest news and the *presence* of greater, even if, at times, dubious, technical content is quite refreshing! I have always enjoyed Wayne's editorials which is *not* to say I always agree with them! - I find Wayne rather reminiscent of Hugo Gernsback (a *Good* thing!).

As far as other amateur radio specific periodicals, I feel QEX is the finest - unfortunately it is a quarterly. More generally, EDN is my periodical of choice...

Sincerely

Worthless. (It wasn't always so.) Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Add my voice to the chorus that feels that 73 is well... just plain worthless. That is really sad because, back say, 15 years ago, there was a lot of good content here. Oh, and no, I see nothing of value in Wayne Green's diatribes either.

Use it for litter? No, thanks. I'd be afraid it would make my ferrets sick.

Yeah but... Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I still read it. I still buy it. I read everthing I can get my hands on and I still haven't filled my brain up yet, there is still room for a lot more. I hope it never fills up.
Wayne has done so much, and so much for all of us, how can one just dismiss his publication because you may not agree with him?
I have learned far more from people I didn't agree with that those I do agree with. Human nature being what it is, we tend to not think about what we hear if we agree with it, and test and question the things we don't agree with. So, Waynes editorials are always useful.
The magizine is NOT what it used to be, and it never will be if we just start kicking it because it is down and an easy target.
Give it a chance. If it doesn't get better, it will go away all by itself.

Awful Time Owned: more than 12 months.
whatever "boring" or "political" stuff you may find in QST, at least it's actually related to amateur radio. Not so 73.

I recently looked at the magazine again. I once said it was OK if you happened to pick it up at a friends house at read it there, and didn't have to pay for it. I take that back. It's not even worth that much.

If I see it sitting around a ham's shack, I may pick it up to flip pages. But I'd never pay for it. As far as Wayne being a Libertarian, well, Wayne's politics are the Politics of Wayne. If it isn't *his way*, it's the wrong way. Hardly a Libertarian attitude.

Still worth a look ! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This magazine may be a shadow of its former self, however, it still often has interesting articles.

The magazine could be a lot better if those who prefer complaining to doing, contributed some technical articles or actually wrote to 73 and told them what they'd like to see in the magazine. Then again, it's easier to complain than to be constructive isn't it.

I suspect much of the vitriolic outbursts have a lot more to do with dislike of Wayne Green's opinionated editorials than his magazine.

If you stripped-out all the advertisements, boring contest nonsense and political (yawn) stuff that QST is usually full of, I suspect it would be an equally slim volume.

Do we really want to see another ham radio magazine bite the dust ? Are any of the detractors willing to start a better magazine ? No, I thought not.

Way to go Wayne. You've done a lot more with your life than most of your detractors ever will.
