Shoddy construction even with supposedly genuine hologram Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Received July 2013, lightly used mostly indoors, until Nov 19, 2016, when I noticed the copper jacket had shredded and the connector came loose with barely any effort. That certainly explains why stations were cutting in and out depending on how I oriented the transceiver. Suspect it blew my Baofeng's finals, because it hasn't seemed to have the same range that it did before I started using the UT-106UV, when I just had the stock Baofeng rubber duck. The UT-106UV never seemed to perform as expected when put in a high-peak 2-story window, above the rubber duck 2-story standing height below.

It is ok Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
It is like having a rubber duck on top of the car. Serve the purpose and nothing else.

GREAT ANTENNA NEEDS WORK Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This antenna did not perform very well because the length was wrong. I crimped a ring terminal onto the end of a stranded copper wire and hung it over top of the coil. I then keyed up to measure SWR and trimmed the wire until I got the length right. I now have a beautifully performing antenna with the swr needle not moving through the entire vhf amateur band and average 1.7:1 swr along the entire 440 band. I get full return signal from repeaters which the rubber duck could not even see.

Good SWR at 441mhz with Bird 43 Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Tested with Bird 43 at 441mhz, 4 Watts forward no reflected on 5 Watt element and 24" dia pizza dish.
VHF OK
Purchased for DMR use as mobile trunk mount antenna.

After testing purchased a second NAGOYA UT-106UV antenna.

China Junk, AVOID! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I can only agree with the previous reviews.
The resonance points are too high for the ham bands, and the construction is weak.

I got this together with a Tytera MD-380, and i will know to avoid package deals from now on. The radio itself is really half decent.

Only good point is that the antenna connects to the mount with an M3 screw, so you can remove the original antenna and screw on your own. A metal spacer and a screw with a couple of washers and nuts on, and then about 16cm of #14 copper wire, and now you got a somewhat serviceable quarter wavelength mobile antenna.

Next time I'l get a Procom.

Not worth it Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
even with the price being less than $7 this was a wate of money. I had hoped to used this antenna as a toss in the go box antenna. Not going to happen. Antenna looks ok but once you connect it to an antenna analyzer you find out the real story.

SWR on VHF was never below 2.0 to 1 anywhere.
On UHF is was almost dead flat at 470mhz but in the ham band it was 2.5 or higher.

I used a Comet CAA-500 analyzer and a good solid metal area to attach to away from other things.

So as far as I am concerned this antenna is a scanner antenna and no more. It will live in the junkbox until i get tired of looking at it and pitch it in the trash.

Anyone want a brand new one in the package?? $10 shipped!! LOLOL!!

GMRS only. 5/8th wave 39cm Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Great for GMRS auto, motorcycle use
but it has physical noise, it sings when mobile.

By checking the wavelength division chart for example you will see only one match.
5/8th wave for GMRS, so you do get gain instead of loss.
It is ok for NOAA and FM.
Do not TX on VHF for it will overheat your radio.

Cons:
unusable on VHF HAM.
it sings from wind noise, two coil/trap whistles
picks up harmonics on VHF Marine channels.
not for VHF use.
Needs to be labeled GMRS only

It is what it is, low cost mobile antenna.
I suspect it is a sister to the UT-105 but with different trap frequencies.
