[Editor's note: Clif Holland passed away in Oct 2022. RIP Clif.]

NOTE:

2 Feb 2019

After 38 years of repairing amateur radio equipment and being over 70 years old the fire has about gone out. My wife and I have decided to take an extended sabbatical and see some of this great country of ours.

To this end we will not accept repairs after February 15, 2019. All radios received before that date will be repaired and returned to the owners. The 30 day warranty will remain in effect.

We have both enjoyed what we have been doing and have the best customers in the world. I will continue to provide help via the internet and limited phone help during our extended sabbatical.

This fall we will re-evaluate and determine the next step. I appreciate your understanding.

A Gentleman and a Scholar Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Fueled by the great reviews here on eham I decided to contact Avvid so as to have one of the two TS-450S I own with an inop audio output fixed. I went to his website and to my dismay it said that he would be gone till June and would not accept anymore repair orders till he got back from his trip. I wrote to Cliff and he immediately wrote back confirming the fact that he would not be accepting any more repairs till June in order to finish repairing the ones he had already received. he then asked me what the problem was and after I explained to him we began an extensive back and forth email exchange which culminated with him helping identify the problem I had (a burned electrolytic). I asked him how much he would charge me for his service and his response was "nada". I don't have to tell you how rare it is to find an individual such as Cliff these days on any field of endeavor. I will use him for any and all repairs from now on.

Top notch work Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Clif just modified my old TS-2000X to bring the 2 meter preamp circuit to the currently built TS-2000. Great work.... great results...Clif is a wizard in working with Kenwood radios. His price is fair and the work is promptly done.

Highly recommended!

I have a TS430 that Clif recently brought back to life. Good service and fairly priced.

WD4AFY says, "Clif is the Best!!!" Time Owned: more than 12 months.
My ancient Kenwood TS-130S had been "out of service" for a number of years..."intermittents", dirty "pots", "wear-n-tear," etc. I had stored it in my closet and used my newer ham equipment.

Earlier this year, I needed another h.f. radio to use in our camper or for Field Day. Rather than spending "big bucks" for a new radio, I sent the ailing "TS-130S" to Clif (AVVid).

After several weeks, the TS-130S was repaired and returned to me. The radio works "great," and the cost of repair was reasonable, and much cheaper than a new radio.

Clif, YOU are the best!!!!

Andy Blackburn, WD4AFY

Awhile back, I sent a Kenwood radio to Clif for repair. He did excellent service on the unit at a reasonable price.

I sent another old Kenwood TS-680S to AVVid for repair. The unit was intermittent and quirky with age. Clif repaired the unit and returned it to me in a timely manner. The repair cost was very reasonable and the unit runs like new. Clif kept me informed on the status of repair, cost, and shipment back. I highly recommend him for Kenwood Amateur Radio Repairs.

self repair with AVVid help Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I had a problem with my old TS 940 not working after 15 min of operation. Clif of AVVid helped me correct the problem via e-mail which corrected the problem and the unit is working great again. Clif was very nice and helpful with working with me to solve the problem/s with my unit. I would ecurage anyone to work with Clif of AVVid for any or your Kenwood units. Clif is a very onest person and helps a fellow ham. Thanks very much Clif for your help and support.

Fantastic service Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I had 10 watts gone into my TS850S and Cliff advised me about the suspected bad components in the receiver frontend. He sent 2 DTC124EK transistors that I could not find and the rig works perfect again.
Great service from Cliff, he sent the transistors for free!

Highly Recommended Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The GPS jack on my THD7A jarred loose on a long motorcycle trip. Of course, the APRS information then stopped, and the map showed I was on a rural country road somewhere near Preston, Idaho, and within a few hours my wife was ready to call search & rescue ... so it had to be fixed!

One look at the tiny case convinced me to send it away rather than trying to fix it myself. I found this shop on eHam, read the reviews, and sent it off. Clif did a very professional job in a reasonable time at a very modest price and it's now working fine. Thanks!

My only quibble is that I wish he'd sent me an email confirming receipt of the rig with some idea of how long the queue was before he could get to mine.

Clif is the BEST!!!! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I e-mailed Clif about a problem I had with my Kenwood TS-930S and he quickly sent me a message back with instructions how to fix the problem. I repaired it myself and offered to pay for his services and he would not take any money. Now thats what you call service !! I saved shipping both ways and payed no repair fees. It did not cost me a dime! I can tell you that any service I need in the future will be headed Clifs way. Guys like Clif are few and far between. Thanks Again Clif!! 73, N1YPZ

Great Service Time Owned: N.A.
My 8 year old TS-570 quit transmitting and as in many cities these days, there is no reliable repair shop for amateur equipment in Phoenix. Based mostly on the reviews I found here I sent the rig to Clif and was very pleased with the results. He quickly found the problem and repaired the radio sooner than promised. I put it on the air as soon as I got it back and get the same good reports as when it was new. Output on my wattmeter is greater than spec and I am happy again. I only wish he also serviced Yaesu so I could send my broken Mark V for the same great service.

Repair of TS-50, went the extra mile Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I had a broken TS-50 and Clif invested far more time in it than he billed me for. Some parts had to come from Japan. I got it back and seemed it had low output on some bands and he went over checks with me on the phone and then had me send it back to recheck it all at his expense. All was okay. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Clif. Very fair and honest. Bob
