After 38 years of repairing amateur radio equipment and being over 70 years old the fire has about gone out. My wife and I have decided to take an extended sabbatical and see some of this great country of ours.

To this end we will not accept repairs after February 15, 2019. All radios received before that date will be repaired and returned to the owners. The 30 day warranty will remain in effect.

We have both enjoyed what we have been doing and have the best customers in the world. I will continue to provide help via the internet and limited phone help during our extended sabbatical.

This fall we will re-evaluate and determine the next step. I appreciate your understanding.

Clif has been a frequent contributor to all things Kenwood. He contributes when he can help with the knowledgeable recipient and he will withhold comment when his comments might confuse the less knowledgeable person. I have monitored his comments and his contributions for several years and find that when he does contribute something, it is thoughtful, productive and helpful. He has helped me immeasurably with either a direct comment or what he has said to others. Guru is the appropriate description when it comes to Clif. Just my personal experience. 73s Jerry N0XWR

Made matters worse Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I, for one, experienced none of the AVVid charm described by so many other eHam reviewers. I found him to be assuming, condescending and cantankerous. My TS2000 came back after a month with the same symptoms I sent it in with, plus now all the settings and four years of memory channels are wiped out. Fist he said he noticed a problem with the ALC, then said there was no problem. I asked him why he zapped all the settings if he found nothing wrong with the radio. He replied that he just always resets processor based radios when he gets them. I would think the first objective would be to do no harm, but apparently it's all about Cliff. I'm still cleaning all his scotch tape off the chassis. It was an insulting experience and a wast of my time and money.

I just purchased my Kenwood TS 870s had it about a week and the transmit died. So I sent it to Clif, All I can say is absolutely great. Clif is one of the nicest guy to deal with. I contacted him many times and he was always a pleasure to talk to. All I can say is if you have a problem with your Kenwood send it to Clif. If I every have any more trouble I will use his repair service again. Just Great Period!. Also by the way, I had two predriver for my rig, Clif let me sent them to him without forcing me to order new ones, now how about that. You don't find many people willing to help you save money this day in age. The cost is more than fair.

TS-2000X Repairs were Great, Reasonable and Pormpt. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have used AVVID two times and my experiences have been excellent for both. Much better than my experiences with Kenwood East. AVVID actually does component level repair, not just board swaps. Prices are very reasonable and service is prompt. Communications are very good also. My two problems were with a TS-2000X. Both were difficult to find problems, but AVVID found the problems and fixed them.

TOP NOTCH SERVICE - TS450S CHIRP PROBLEM Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Imagine doing CW with an old TS450S and have people shouting at you throughout the cluster world saying things like: "go fix your radio"...and giving you 597 reports on the bands. Well, this happened to me.

A friend in the US suggested I contact Clif Holland, of AVVID Kenwood Service, in Texas. But I had a problem: I live thousands of miles from Clif, in another country, and I could not send my radio to the US. Therefore, I approached him with the possiblity of a remote repair proposal, not knowing what his reaction would be.

Well, Clif wrote back in less than one hour and, concisely, told me to check two or three very simple things. Five minutes later I was on the air getting T9s from everyone. But, those very simple things, were not so simple after all, because none of the folks I had contacted before about this problem (professionals and amateurs alike) knew where the problem was. So Clif "knew", even from a distance, where the problem could be. That is knowledge and experience.

Clif was very professional and very generous. I can only give him and his professional Kenwood Service, my highest recommendations.

Kenwood East said my TS 940Sat wasnt worth repairing. Clif repaired it for lest than 300.00 and been working every day since. Go figure.

I am having a problem with my TS 940, garbled audio after about 30 minutes of operation.

I called Clif and inquired about sending the radio to him for repair....

He gave me the information to attempt the repair my self.

I have never talked with a supplier as helpful and friendly as Clif..

I sent Clif an old hf rig for repair. This guy is FANTASTIC! He emailed me when it arrived at his place, again when he estimated the repair cost, again when he was doing the repairs, again when he was finished and yet AGAIN when he shipped it back to me. Now THAT is what I call customer service! When I received it, I was amazed at the packing job. He did MUCH better than Fed-Ex did when I utilized their "expert" packaging service.

Overall, GREAT Service! GREAT Price!
