Not bad at all for $31! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I bought this direct from RS online to replace my ancient Sony 7600 that was just worn out. I had bought one from another site, and it had issues, but this one is pretty good. It's stable and SSB is easier to tune than a lot of BFO equipped radios. All in all, it's a solid radio and I wouldn't have had any problem paying double what I did for it.

Positives:
Stable.
Good audio.
Good sensitivity.
Very good battery life. I get about 12-14 hours on a set of alkalines.

Negatives:
Dial light is pretty weak, and it doesn't stay on long enough.

That's really about it, if you want something better, it's out there for sure, but for the price, this thing is the king.

For the money and extraordinary value. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This review is strictly based on cost benefit. I purchased this radio for $23 new at an RS a few days ago; it was on clearance for $32 with an additional 25% off. In fact I bought several, so wound up with $10 coupons making the per unit price something on the order of $17. Where I live, in NYC and the Hamptons, you're lucky if you can buy a pizza and a bottle of soda for $17.

There are annoyances. The light stays on only a few seconds and is highly position dependent. It doesn't handle overload all that well but at the same time is somewhat deaf on the whip.

However.

The audio stage has a frequency response almost good enough to serve as a tuner in a home audio system (which of courser shows up only on FM); FM reception is quite good; and SSB tuning is considerably easier than on other portables with clarifiers, such as the Grundigs.

For anywhere near $20 this is a steal and as an emergency backup or for that matter anyone wanting to buy a dozen or so and be an Elmer can be assured that anyone who gets this will have a reasonably good experience and not be frustrated (except of course by the lack of programming these days).

Excellent Radio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This radio is new to Radio Shack line up of radios . This radio is a big improvement over Radio Shacks shortwave radios that Radio Shack has been selling . The sensitivity is very good on all bands . The selectivity is also good at about 4 khz impressive . The SSB is zeroed in and can detune 1.5 khz upper or lower sideband . With the tuning knob pushed in once radio will go to fine tune mode FM 50 khz , LW 1 khz, AM 1 khz , SW 1 khz . Radio has a plug in for a external antenna . Radio also has push button band control and frequency input and a tuning knob . Large digital readout with dial light .I really was not expecting much out of this radio , boy was I surprised . The size of this radio is perfect also . Radio Shack has brought a winner into it stores
