Review Summary For : YAESU MD 100A8X Dexk-Top Microphone w/Tone Control
Reviews: 93MSRP: $125.50 @ R&L Electronics
Description:
Yaesu, traets this as their top-of -the-line high end Mic, and as well they should. I have used Heil, Sure ICOM and other various microphones, which are from stand alone to hand mics, not that I'm the expert. But from the time I have incorporated the MD 100, the audio reports have been nothing less than "Excellent", so I'll let nealry 400 QSOs, from the mics use speak for themself! I use one for HF and the other for UHF/VHF with assured audio quality. W8DMC

Great Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Bought a MD-100 to go with my Mark V. Worried off/on for almost a year trying to get it setup to work with the Mark V. After worrying with all the menus in the radio and countless hours of lost sleep I finally hit upon the right combo. Problem was it barely would drive the radio. After setting the filter switch to thru and high emph on and left low cut turned off and setting menu in the radio as follows 5-9 6.0 4-4 off 7-7 txlsb to 100-3100 all I can say is wow. It drives the devil out of the radio with the mic gain at about 1 0'clock and everybody gives great audio reports. The key to this mic is the high emph set to on. The highs give it a much higher output apparently and that is what drives the radio. The 100-3100 gives you enough of the lows without being muddy or hard to understand. The feel of the mic and looks are great. It is a keeper for me now. Sure am glad I didn't go through with selling it like I almost did several times. Get one and you will love it if it setup right. Maybe this will save somebody else hours of lost sleep (HiHi)

Awesome Performance Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I bought my MD-100 Originally for the Yaesu FT-102 Which I had at the time. It performed great with the FT-102, But Alas I have since parted with the FT-102, and have now partnered the MD-100 with my Yaesu FT-847.

The FT-847 Has had the Collins crystal Filters installed & along with the MD-100, I always get great comments from the contacts regarding the audio quality, several contacts thought I was running a Yaesu FT-1000 because of the audio.

The MD-100 is an outstanding performer and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

I Purchased the Yaesu MD 100A8X Desk-Top Microphone over two years ago for my FT-857d and it works great. Now I like the way you can use the mic on either radio plug by just by simply flipping the cable ends around. You can also plug your hand mic into the back of the base on the md100 and use either mic.Audio reports on the MARS HF net Loud & Clear.

aaa+++great audio Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
using with a 1000mkV i have never had a bad modulation report. Many compliments especially after tailoring via the 1000V dsp tx menu, and carrier offset.I bypass filters on the mic,and use no.3 on the dsp tx on the radio.
the standard h/h mic also gets = great results.

Nest Mic I ever used Time Owned: more than 12 months.
The MD100 is the mic I use with both my FT-920 and FT-101ZD. It gets better audio reports than when I am using my Heil Pro set plus, which says alot, because the Heil is a quality piece as well.

I highly recommend this model to anyone considering the purchase of a desk mic.

Excellent Desk Microphone! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I am using my MD-100 with a Yaesu FT-897D and often get nice comments about my audio quality. I am not running a speech processor.

I really like the look of the mike as well. It is very sleek and stylish.
