Good permormer, looks good on the outside Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Hi Guys, well what can I say, it performs really well, its based on the J stick idea. So the total length is 3/4 wave, but its actually a 1/2 wave antenna, there is some info on the internet from a PE or PA station with pictures of the inside of it, you wont be impressed, its over engineered and doesn't look very well made to me, lot of different types of metal to corrode, long screw thread, if you get one you must waterproof it 100% or it will get water in it, you will need a lot of liquid tape, self amalgamating tape and plastic tape, maybe some araldite as well, you need to tape up the centre joint and the lower one on the top section, and at the bottom around the SO 239 connector, there is a drain hole at the bottom, that may help, leave that as it is, the bottom of the top section apparently isn't secured in the chrome boss very well, so you can drill a hole in the side and put a stainless steel self tapping screw in and waterproof it, then tape it all up so you cant see the joint at the top of the chrome bit, waterproof all around the black plastic bit around the SO 239...don't forget to put the plastic cover on at the very top..hope all that helps, have a look on my qrz page at the bottom...from Fred g4vvq

Great while it lasted Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This was the best performing 4m vertical I ever had. However, after about a year it died and I found that water had got in, filled it up, passed through the plug and down the coax, ruining the coax too.
It wasn't as if I had not tried. I have three other Sirio antennas and I have carefully protected them against water getting in. I did the same with this one. I carefully bound all the joints up with self amalgamating tape. When I took it down I threw it in the garage but after a long time there I find that my tape is still water tight. The antenna has failed at the bottom of the single element section. There is a small joiner there which has split both vertically and then radially. It looks like water got in, froze, it split, and then it was curtains.
I do not agree that it is hopeless like the other reviewer. If you could keep the water out of it you would have a great antenna - and Sirio sell them for commercial use so there must be some way of doing it.
Maybe surround the whole thing in blue shrinkwrap?
I gave away my Sandpiper 5/8th when I got this and I had to buy another Sandpiper when it got water logged. Still, I have now scrapped the Sirio and it is good for holding up the bird netting in the garden.

Rubbish! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Looks good but performs badly in the rain.
Seems to leak like a sieve and fills up with water and/or condensation.
In the dry it will happily perform at 1.2:1 but wait until the weather changes then you can sit and watch the SWR rise.
Mine regularly topped in excess of 5:1 because it had got around half a glass of water in it.
I've stripped it down and rebuilt it twice now, adding masses of waterproofing, sealant and tape and STILL the damn thing gets full of water.
Avoid unless its all you can get your hands on.
