super bit of kit Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
well i have been using it for a couple of months now and it’s the best antenna i have had in a vehicle for some years, i know it does not tune on 160 or 50 mhz with the small whip, but i have been working all over the glob from the west coast of the usa to the far reaches of vk and zl, superb build quality and stunning tuning with no rf getting back to the radio or outboard speaker in the car, the only thing i had to do was change the rs232 plug on the end for the normal tuner socket on the rear of the icom radios, this saves you a chunk of money and it seems that it’s only offered as a opc cable as some people can’t use a soldering iron,

thumbs up for icom, i know it’s costly but it’s the best i can and have found,

ps: if you have a covert wire antenna up just remove the antenna whip and connect your wire to the ah/740 press tune and away you go,

one very happy icom fan and mobile user,
please note: this review was for the 740 NOT the 760, I do not have the 760,

there is a picture of it fitted to my truck in my profile, maybe admin can use the picture fir the review page.

Works above expectations Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This antenna is really great.... Tunes well with its supplied whip on all bands 40-10 meters. is very quick band changes when coupled to an ICOM 7100. 80 meters is not very efficient as expected but i haven't tried 80 during the evening with it, it may work better then....
Not cheap but a good investment in VK land as ICOM here has a 5 year warranty on all their products.
This antenna needs a well made solid base as its fairly heavy at 3.5 kg. Mine is mounted on a bull bar on the front of vehicle on a sturdy mount.
I have found the whip section can work loose on rough roads for extended periods of travel but can be secured so won't work loose with some electrical insulation tape though...
Note: If you want to operate this antenna or the AH-4 units this will NOT WORK with an ICOM 7100 which has the Capacitor modification installed. This mod needs to be removed BEFORE the AH-740 will tune with it.
You have been warned....

Works well Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Have used this antenna on my IC-7100. It tunes extremely quickly. Works well on all bands up to 20m. Tuned ok on 80m as well but with the short 2 metre whip wasn't so efficient. I tried the new Icom NVIS kit on it and made a whopping difference. Signals up by at least 3 S points both ways.
Overall, great little performer. It's basically an AH-4 cut down into smaller boards and fitted inside the case.
