GREAT FUN FROM 80 to 2MTRS Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Bought my first one back about 25yrs ago. Thought it look really kewl but didn't know a thing about it. Fortunitly it came with the original manual which is very good and has lots of good info. After building a p/s for it and adding a mike amp stage from '55 CQ I was up and running. Great fun to operate and has given very little trouble. Got good audio reports even using an old T-17 military mike. For a receiver I was operating ether a National SW-3 or a little HB job. Have made lots of contacts on 75/40mtr AM and had a blast doing it. Would recommend the little H-W to any ham who want to have a little old time fun operating some great old time gear!!!

Old Time Ham Radio! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I first bought a TBS-50C at a hamfest for a whopping $30 with no PS because it looked like an old WWII classic transmitter. I modified an old Heathkit HP-20 to work with it and it WORKED!!! This unit had a 6146 final in it but all the information on-line showed an 807 final.

The following year I bought another TBS-50C with matching VFO and homebrew PS. This unit had the 807 final and modulator tubes in it!

Working CW on these rigs is as close to operating a station from the late 1940's - early 1950's as you can get!
