Professional headset intended for broadcasting Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
This headset is intended for professional broadcasting. You will see it in use at any kind of sports events, as a moderator headset or for event communication. It is optimized for ease of wear, has excellent ambient noise reduction and a microphone specially made for voice reproduction.

I use it for my second hobby as a sports broadcaster. It comes without cable, you can adapt a number of different cables with a variation of plugs to it. Mine has an XLR plug for the microphone and a 1/4" jack for the headphones. It works well with a standard XLR microphone transformer on my old TS830S, I had to add a small preamp (homemade) to adapt it to my new IC7300, because the ICOM is intended for the higher output of the stock electret microphone.

I get excellent modulation reports with it, the microphone is made for maximum quality speech transmissions. It has strong directional qualities and is able to reduce ambient noise very well. The position is easily adjustable with a flexible gooseneck. It is easy to wear the headset for hours, it fits very well.

A professional piece of equipment, it comes with a pricetag... about 250 Euro in Germany. However, this thing is made to last, you will get spare parts like ear cushions for many years to come and the quality is second to none. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

Comfy but deaf Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This is a very comfy and well-built headphone for professional studio applications. For ham radio use, the dynamic mike is fairly deaf. At the highest gain possible, its output is only barely adequate on my K3. A preamp is in order.

There is a .v11 version with a built-in preamp, but you will need to supply AB power. Otherwise, count on using an external preamp.

The headset does not include a connecting cable, which is extra and costly. It uses a proprietary connector.
