Okay for playing around Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This is one of many inexpensive Chinese-made function generators sold on Ebay. It is labeled "EZM Electronics Studio" in the lower right corner and "FG-100 DDS Function Generator" on the upper left.

The unit includes a power cord that plugs into any common USB 5 VDC power supply. An actual USB power supply is not included with the unit. It is enclosed in a very solid plastic case. The LCD display is easy to read.

Based on tests with my recently calibrated oscilloscope, this product does generate square waves, sine waves, sawtooth waves, and a few other waveforms, as advertised. The DC offset knob is a bit touchy but the DC offset does work as claimed.

The waveforms are good enough for educational use and for aligning audio equipment. However, the square waves have significant leading edge overshoot above about 50 Khz. Above 100 Khz, the square waves and sine waves have significant distortion. In short, it doesn't even begin to compare to a $300+ function generator.

If you are looking for a low cost function generator for educational purposes or to do audio frequency testing, this might do the job. But if you are looking for a tool that you can use to calibrate your oscilloscope or troubleshoot RF stages, this isn't going to do the job.
