Form Follows Function Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I use my KX3 for a lot of digital mode work, primarily JT65 and JT9 with WSJT-X, and Olivia with DM780. This heatsink allows use of 10w for extended sessions and 5w indefinitely. Fred VE7FMN's heatsink is a work of art that very much compliments the aesthetics of the KX3. The packaging for shipping was probably the most effective I've seen for protecting the product. And talk about a responsive manufacturer, Fred replied to a few questions I had with not only email and text messages, but he called from Canada to make sure all my questions were answered. How often does that happen?

Hot bad. Cool good. Buy it. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Realistically, you probably only need this
add-on if you plan to run all-night RTTY bulletins
from the top of the Great Pyramid in August.
Nonetheless, it double-damn guarantees that your
KX3 will (1) stay cool and (2) look really cool
while doing so. Dealing with VE7FMN is seamless
and the unit arrived packed to survive a drop
from the ISS. I highly recommend it.

Awesome Heatsink Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
It's all about quality and big fins. Hell, I'm a Ham Radio Operator that likes guns and Harley's. I love my air cooled bikes. So, how do you modify them to make sure they stay cool....you add fins. Heat sinks have fins......they aid and distribute the heat. Then there is cosmetics....it's got to work and look good at the same time.

So, how do you modify a KX3? You purchase a gorgeous, finned, mat finish, heatsink that sets off the black of the KX3 by VE7FMN. It is a great job of machining and performance.

Fred, even provided the screws!

Excellent quality - KX3 Worthy Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I am a big Olivia proponent/operator and have been running a coaxial muffin fan blowing air over the top of my KX3 to allow 10W operation. Having now added the VE7FMN custom heat sink the fan has been retired. The KX3 can easily handle 100% duty cycle at 5W and better than 50% at 10W.

The quality and workmanship of this device is consistent with the quality of the KX3. Fred was also a delight to deal with. His packaging of the product for shipping was overkill but nice to purchase a product where the manufacturer's concern for quality and delivery are both first class. No disappointment here! Worth every penny and then some.

Crowning glory for the KX3 Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I was having some reduced power issues as well on PSK, and so, ordered a Heat Sink the VE7FMN.

Installation was a snap, and while not a scientific test, I have since yet have had the power reduction issues.

I don't know Fred (VE7FMN) personally, but he answered all questions and skipped promptly. I am in awe of the craftsmanship.

Sure, it's just a heatsink, but fit and finish is superb. The powder-coating is flawless. As a work of art, it feels right at home atop my KX3.
Couldn't be happier!
