Built like a tank! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
These Telex headphones are built like a tank. You would have to try to break the things. I remember using them for classroom A/V listening back in the 80's, and also using them into the 90's when I was working in small-market radio. They are made for durability, not comfort.

Good communication audio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I would actually rate these as 4.5. I bought a brand new set for $12 INCLUDING shipping off EBAY. The newest model is the 610-1, but these are the older 610. No difference in build or audio quality, just in how the earphone opposite the cable is connected. They are FAA approved for aviation use, so they have to be of high quality. The earcups isolate extraneous noise well, and the dynamic range is limited, compared to high fidelity phones and is made for voice only, NOT music. Static is not as bad as in the higher response type earphones, making these ideal for ssb and CW, limiting the static crashes very well. They are 600 ohms, but work very well with all my HF radios, and for twelve bucks brand new, including shipping, these are a steal.

Nice audio for communication Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Great headphones for CW, nice audio on SSB to.
Not as comfortable as the average studio/hifi headphones I'm used to.

Picked up a set of them on Ebay for about $10.00 .
The shipping cost was twice the price of the headphones !!!

Here are the specs as you can read on the Tec sheet from Telex.

Receivers:
Type: Magnetic
Impedance: 600 ohms
(matches 150 to 600 ohm radio output)
Freq. Response: 100 - 5,000 Hz
Sensitivity1: 100 dB

I would rate them as a 4 out of 5.
+ Not to expensive if you can get a nice deal on Ebay.
+ Great audio for communication (guess Telex desinged them for that purpose).
- A bit uncomfortable compared to more mordern headphones.
